Excellent all-round printer, perfect for a networked home
29 August 2009
Excerpt: My specifications for a home printer were rather high: double sided printing, scanning, and network; all of which combined can sometimes be rather hard to find at a reasonable price. However the J6410 had all of these, and more, and for the equivalent of roughly £100.
Pros: Easy to use, Linux Compatible, Many features
Summary: This looks slick and stylist. However six weeks and fifly pages later it stoppped working. It maybe it was the short period of hot weather which dried the ink cartridges.Bought it as a partially sighted and disabled user to scan in my letters to read on screen.
Excerpt: I bought this printer 2 days ago. I connected it at home to an ADSL modem/ router with ethernet cable. I installed with the CD to both my 2 desktop computers (with the easy default automatic installation, not for advanced users, it took about 10 minutes). Both see the machine normally.
Excerpt: Don't buy this problem machine. It's all trouble and there isn't any help from HP. This is the second time I bought a HP all in one and the second time it is not working like in should. I never buy one again. Wireless??? have to reinstal the printer everytime I want to use it. Scanner??
Summary: Has issues with vista and wireless networking, which means you need to install various updates which ultimately don't work! All support for Hp is from people in asia so didn't get anywhere with them and had to pay 10p per min for the pleasure
Summary: I've not yet used the fax function, but everything else I have used and can't fault. Unsurprisingly, the ink cartridges you get with it don't last too long, so be prepared to shell out £70-odd for a pair of XL cartridges. All manufacturers seem to play this trick.
