Summary: I bought this printer through ebay. It did not have a manual of instructions. After connecting the G85 to my computer, the drivers loaded automatically. It was easy to learn the printer by just reading the LCD window instruction and the graphical instruction on the computer screen. The only minor stumbling block was to deduce that the only keyboard on the printer to enter fax telephone numbers is the dial keyboard in the center section of the dashboard.
Summary: I like all aspects of this machine, but it has Mirror Imaging, which you cannot find any other copiers. The only bad thing is they don't make this model any longer, I think it is very servicable.
Summary: I own a G85. Have had it for about 15 years and use it nearly every day in my art business. A couple of features stopped working after my cat stuck her paw inside to see what was making the noise!!. I never thought I'd find another to replace it. I am delighted! It's hard to find this kind of quality in a printer. My old one is being given to a young man who can use it in his business of tatooing! I will make sure cat Skeeter keeps her paws out of this one!!
Summary: What can I say? We bought ours in 1999 for $750. It is an un-killable product. It was the first HP inkjet copier with zoom function and auto feeder. We have ours in the TV nook in the bedroom and the modern ones (side-side printing) wouldn't work in this small cube-like area. Yes, now that its 10 years old it tends to jam sometimes.
Summary: This is a very versatile machine. The "HP Director" which has an icon installed on your desktop, is a super wizard type tool, that will allow you to select any function of the machine; copy, scan, print, fax, and walk you through the steps for whatever job; includes a photo editor to polish up scanned photos to improve contrast, color saturation, brightness, etc., as well as cropping and other modifications.
Pros: Although accepts legal size media, glass top not long enough; hard to copy legal size docs
Cons: Although accepts legal size media, glass top not long enough; hard to copy legal size docs
Summary: This is a great mulit-function machine that is cheap to operate. I bought it because the ink is availble at low cost and can also be purchased as re-filled cartridges. The ink cartridges are nearly twice as much ink as the new units. The machine is bulit like a tank compared to the new machines.
Summary: This printer is built like a battleship. Very durable. My first one that I havd for about 8 years, had over 25,000 pages printed. It was working fine, but I had an opportunty to buy one with only 1400 pages printed, so I bought it. This G85 uses the older ink cartridges that are bigger and cost less per page to print. The new printers generally use a smaller cartridge and the cost per page is higher. It is easy to operate and does everything needed for a small business.
Summary: I Like the HP G85 Ink Jet Printer because it is a good printer that uses very little ink. I can go about a year on both the color and black ink cartridge. It also has a quality scanner that I use to flat scan eBay items that I sold in the past. Our first HP G85 lasted about 7 years and we read all the good reviews on the G85 on line and decided to just replace it with the same unit rather than get a new HP unit at Best Buy.
Summary: I am replacing my printer and I heard good things about this printer. Anyone I talked to that had one just loved it so I thought I would give it a try but I can not give an honest review about this printer because it is unusable. I bought a mint but received a broken leaker. I can not use it.
