HP OfficeJet 7310 a Pretty Good All in One Printer
9 September 2012
Excerpt: I have an HP OfficeJet 7310 All-In-One InkJet printer. I'm satisfied with it. It's not great by any means. It's not bad either. It has a lot of features; you scan stuff, you can copy stuff, you can fax stuff, you can load photos you want to print right onto it throught the SD card slots or USB ports. That is very useful. The quality of the prints is very good. I've never had an issue with an image or whatever I'm printing being poor quality. The copy feature is...
Pros: For one year everything worked fantastically! Only occasional paper jam, which was very easy to clear.
Cons: After a year, the black/photo print cartridge is no longer being read by machine, it keeps asking for it to be inserted. Still prints from and scans to computer, but it won't fax OR copy, due to the cartridge error message. NO help from HP!!
Summary: I was going to give this HP all in one less then 3 stars, but I decided that 3 is fair, considering that it does some things quite well. First the good stuff. The 7310 is visually pleasing, and appears well constructed. It is a gray color, though I would have preferred black, and its buttons are raised and easy to use. There is also a color lcd screen and if memory serves this was one of the first if not the first "all in one's" to incorporate a color screen.
Summary: I have had my HP Officejet 7310 for about 2.5 years. I have been very pleased with it up until now. I was able to install it easily and it performed all of its functions well. It prints faster than my earlier HP printers which have proven to be more durable, e.g. HP 960, Photosmart 7150 and HP Deskjet 3820. I like the functionality of the 7310 and I have been pleased with fax, scanner and copier functions.
Summary: The print, fax and scan results are excellent for the price paid. The process is *horrendous* and the after-sales service appalling. If you're patient and knowledgeable, you might just get away with a clean installation. If not, buy something else. Software provided with machine is redundant at best, nightmarish on a day-to-day basis and a good reason for not buying the unit. However, photo quality prints are better than my local professional developer's.
Hardware and features are nice but software reliability is questionable

Summary: The HP 7310 appears to be a great home/office or office printer, and if you're working with low volume and willing to put up with some software annoyances, then it is what it appears to be. The output quality and the scanning quality are above average. The duplex printing is nice. The software is a complete re-write of the software that came with older generations of OfficeJets. Feature-wise the software is an improvement, but reliability is a downgrade.
