Summary: This printer is a complete steaming pile of junk. I used it for over a year and I honestly want to fling it out the window or take it to a shooting range. Cons: Won't print unless it has CMY cartridges which are not empty. Want to print a black and white document? Too bad. It will however let you print in black if you're out of black. Money grab much? Wastes ink. I don't know how it does it, but you can print nothing in color and then find yourself out of yellow ink.
Summary: This product worked great for a while. My first few months of college, my two roommates and I used this printer frequently and it does its job well. No Complaints in terms of the actually quality of the printer. The thing is, however, personal printers have been reliable for a while, so you just expect to get a working product regardless. My issue is that, one day I wanted to print one page in black and white. The black cartridge was depleted.
Summary: Am going to a black only laser printer which will be much cheaper in the long run.
Pros: Copies look fine.
Cons: 1. Takes a long time to re calibrate itself 2. and it happens frequently which 3. causes it to use a lot more colored ink. 4. So ink costs are imo, exorbitant. 5. Only accepts flat items to scan, i.e., single page items. Nothing else.
Summary: After very gently using this printer for just over a year, I changed the cartridges (using new HP ink cartridges, not refurbished/refilled/etc) and shortly thereafter (it did work for a bit) began to receive the error, "Printhead installed is not intended for use in this printer or is damaged." (Judging from the other reviews about how this unit eats ink, considering that the cartridges were changed 12+ months into the new printer shows how lightly used it was.
Terrible product! Just an ink consuming money maker for HP.

Summary: I've had the same experience as many others. This printer wastes a ton of ink. I don't have to print much, but it goes through a lot of ink anyway. It also makes you replace color cartridges to print black and white. My wife and I both work from home, so I bought 2 of them! Big mistake on my part. I work in technology including purchasing technology for companies. Once again, I am very disappointed in HP.
