Excerpt: When my old all-in-one died I had high hopes for this one. Ordered from Amazon.com got a good price. It was not at all user-friendly to set up. I use printer for faxes, printing envelopes from Stamps.com and printing manufacturer's coupons. I was happy to see individual print cartridges, thought it would be cheaper but as others have said the original ink cartridges need to be replaced very quickly and of course they all need to be replaced at once.
Summary: I bought this based on several good reviews, and at a great price, but this is without a doubt the WORST printer I have used in 20 years of personal computing. It SUCKS ink like a sponge (even with the $70 set of "XL" "extended print" cartridges. It is NOISY and has a long pre start routine that makes a lot of noise but does nothing... Am thinking this was a summer design project HP gave to a group of sophomore engineering student interns.
Summary: I have an HP Officejet 6500 Wireless printer and it has been nothing but problems to get installed and the SCAN feature does not work . This is a piece of "sheist" = The HP scan buttons on the printer don't work because the scan menu doesn't recognize the name of the computer. So, you have to use Windows Fax and Scan software which creates TIF files, then you have to print those to a pdf file, and the image is upside down. Piece of sheist.
Summary: I purchased this printer so multiple computers could print from our wireless network. This product is wired directly to our wireless router. After about a year, the document feeder stopped working. In order for the product to work, you must install the bloated HP Solution Center that comes with the printer. Unfortunately, about every 3 weeks the software says that "installation of your device is not complete" and requires you to run the installation software again.
Summary: First I got this printer used. I have had nothing but problems with it. The install disk did not work so I had to get another one, that one worked. I found some time to get the ink ($84.94). I came back home and installed the ink, now it says that the printhead is missing or damaged, I know I put it in right. I bought it off of Ebay and it said I was getting a used but well working printer. I still can't print.
Summary: Loud Sucks up too much ink Funny to watch it warm up for a few minutes while making tons of noise to print a single sheet of paper If you are not super careful when installing new ink you will damage the product and will need a replacement (it happened to me) Software is awful, talks too long to install, gets messed up and requires re-install There is no value in having all of the in colors in separate cartridges.
