Summary: I purchased the laser printer so I could save money on ink cartridges, but I never even bought ink before the it failed on me. So far I had only used it to scan, which was a pain right off the bat. BE AWARE: this is a black and white printer, but the scanner will only scan black and white also. If you try to scan using a color setting, the entire system will crash and need to be rebooted.
Summary: Don't buy HP printers. HP recommended drivers for this printer caused it to go into an endless "initializing" loop. No way to recover since the printer is no longer detected by the PC. HP tech support is in India, with reps who are incompetent and cant deviate from the basic troubleshoot steps they had been provided.
Summary: I bought this item thinking I was getting a good deal. HP is making printers with a built-in kill switch in the software. In other words the software in the printer if good for 1-2 years (hence the push to buy a warranty). When the printer starts to turn belly up the consumer is led down a rabbit hole in an attempt to upgrade the software, well good luck! Not happening!!
Summary: This printer worked well for the first year. The printer is fine but I wanted to print from both my Dell and my Mac so I downloaded the drivers to my Mac and was prompted to update the Firmware from the HP web site. This caused the computer to go into an endless cycle of initialization. Resetting, unplugging, etc did not fix it. I went to the HP customer support site and found many other customers had the same problem.
Summary: I would not recommend this machine. The scanner function is terrible. Both software and hardware. Paper feeder works - sometimes. Sometimes it will only take the first sheet sometimes none at all. The scanner function will sometimes scan all of the document. Sometimes it won't. Sometimes the scan will be readable, sometimes it is not. Sometimes it will scan all of the text on a page sometimes it won't. Will scan black on a page but not blue.
Crap! Skewing print jobs, even after WTY replacement!

Summary: Tried to give this my best shot, but it is simply a crappy printer. The basics work. One-sided printing isn't too bad and flatbed scanning/copying work fine. However, printing double sided and using the tray to scan cause the images to be skewed (as-in CROOKED). HP made the warranty process a pain in the behind and the refurbished machine still does the same thing. We're using HP genuine toner and HP paper (which I am told that not doing this can result in problems).
