Summary: Fax works great, copier function does it's job.... That is all the "good" I have to say about it. The ADF seems to have large issues. it will move the pages thru just fine but the result is blank pages. So as long as you use the flatbed part it will still work... but that defeats the whole purpose of buying a printer with the ADF. After researching online, I found if you reset the unit and go thru all the setup steps again the ADF will work again.

Summary: First the good news. The printer works fine when the computer I am working on is in the same room as the printer. My problem is that I often work at home connected remotely, via LogMeIn, to my computer at work. Under this circumstance, even after much effort by my computer guy, the printer works only sometimes. When it doesn't, the printer prints garbage and continues to print even after I hit the Cancel button.

Summary: Don't buy it and use it on a network. No issue with printing when it works. However the printer won't stay active, will go to sleep, and STAY asleep with no way to bring it back up except for power cycling. It's a known issue on the HP user boards but HP has YET to actually listen to the customers and fix the problem. You can disable the sleep mode for only 1 hour in the menu but you can't turn it off. The latest update to the firmware doesn't fix the issue.
Printer function is o.k. Scanner fuction is a joke.

Summary: 1) Listed as a 600dpi color scanner or 1200dpi B&W scanner - The only way to do this is through some garbage software provided by HP on a Windows or Mac computer. The scanner has NO settings onboard to do this directly to a USB stick or to a network drive, regardless if you are using the flatbed as the source. When I confronted HP about this, they indicated that these resolutions are not intended for network use because of the large file sizes.
This particular printer has hardware issues: No duplex support.

Summary: I just got this printer. Setup seemed to be going along just fine. Fax works. Single page copying works. One-sided printing from both Windows 7 and Linux (Debian testing) works. However, there is one HUGE issue. This printer will not do 2-sided printing. When I select 2-sided printing, this machine reports a "jam" when there is no jam. What it does is spit out a single sheet with one side printed then stops with a jam report.
Summary: On paper, this looks like a great printer, but if you are running an office, the printer is worse than useless. The driver only allows you to print and do basic scanning from a server environment (only if you are fortunate enough to have desktop experience installed), otherwise, you can only use the HP Universal Driver, which ONLY allows printing.
Excerpt: A first for us: this printer was defective straight out of the box. HP gave up and said to return it. Made noises like a shredder eating stapled papers. We've owned at least ten HP laser printers, and few deskjets. All the others have lasted for years and year. What is going on with HP ?
