Summary: I have never had a problem asking this printer to print or make a copy. However, I don't think I have never NOT had a problem asking this machine to scan. Whether that is scanning to a computer or using the top feeder to make a copy, it is awful. HP man tried to fix it, nothing doing....you can't fix broken. Must be a design flaw. Anyway, I do NOT reccomend this machine if you think you may be scanning or using the top feeder, at all!
Excerpt: I purchased the HP 475 MFP, to replace an older color laser jet. This printer prints out the first page in a couple of seconds using an LAN connection. Good quality black and white text. The color output is great as well. The software that comes with the printer was not installed on my computer. I'm using the basic driver and scanning to a network folder.
slow double sided scanner and can't scan large number of pages

Summary: It prints well, doulbe sided too. And it can scan legal size documents from the feeder. But the setting for legal size has to be set via computer, rather on the printer itself, or it doesn't take. Plus the scanner can't handle more than 10 pages to scan at a time. I bought it b/c it can scan double sided. Again, duplex scanning has to be set on the computer before you can do a double sided scan.
Summary: I like everything about it except scans, which are terrible. Don't seem to find an adjustment, but copies are great, prints are great, but scans come out with a grey background rather than white, which makes them unusable professionally.
Excerpt: I have been using an inkjet in my real estate business and it has been eating me out of house and home on ink. This new printer is awesome!! It was easy to set up, had it up and rolling in minutes. I love the fact that it holds more paper so I'm not out of paper so much, and the color is just beautiful. Really makes those presentations look sharp. So happy I bought this.
Summary: Stay away from this multifunction. The scanner is poorly designed and is going to jam all the time if you try to scan multiple pages or front and back. The scanner is not serviceable in this case so they are going to send you a replacement part until you have your warranty valid after that you will need an expensive contract or pay for the part every time you have a serious jam so the printer will end up soon in the trash.
Excerpt: I have been using HP Printers for as long as I have been in business and have always been satisfied. My previous printer (Laserjet 3600n) seemed a little less beefy than the one I had before but it proved itself. It seems like this Multifunction printer forsakes these qualities in order to provide lots of amenities like scanning and copying. The printer cleans itself after every few envelopes and about every thirty pages.
