HP laser printer is ok
15 May 2014
Summary: The prints that come out seem to be washed out in color or maybe just not very bright. Getting the wireless to work was a little easier than getting the software to work on my desktop. Had to call hp support because software refused to load. I ended up using the Windows 7 fax/scanner software to access the printer functions. It's also a very big machine. And I thought it would print on both sides of the paper - well it does not.
Excerpt: As a teacher, I do a great deal of printing at home. After deciding I wanted/needed a laser printer I was sure this was 'the one' for me............I have now had the printer for 2 weeks and I must say that I'm not completely impressed. I will state that it was easy to setup once the HEAVY printer was brought in the house. However, the paper tray is tiny and requires MANY trips to the printer to refill.......wasting my time.
Excerpt: I would say it's worth it only if you buy it when it's on sale and it worked on a dependable basis. I love the fact that it works with WiFi and i don't need to hard wire it to a router. My first issue with this printer happened only about a month after purchase with very light usage. When it printed, dark ovals appeared down the paper. Because it was within warranty, HP replaced the cartridge and the problem disappeared.
Excerpt: This is a great printer. I was easy to set up with the wireless network. I don't have issues with the network dropping and needing to reconfigure things. This printer does not automatically print double sided. I hear there is a way to set the printer to tell you when to turn the page over but I have not looked into that. Another down side is that the drawer does not hold very much paper. If the paper is loaded past the little line, the printer will jam.
Summary: As at least one other person reported- this thing won't print many .PDFs for some reason. We tried multiple HP-provided and Windows 7 drivers to no avail. HP blames it on Adobe, of course, which may be true- but one of them should probably look at fixing it. It's a great printer otherwise, but since we were trying to use it in an Accounting department that prints a lot of .PDF reports- it just didn't cut it.
Excerpt: This unit is just an OK multi function printer. The print quality is excellent but it is slow on both the first page and following pages. It is also missing a second tray for envelopes, etc. Its duplexing function is great, however. It replaced a Canon Imageclass 4370 monochrome printer and a Canon iP3500 inkjet, both of which I have beat to death. If I could go back to that combination, I would.
