Summary: I purchased this Printer for my family's use backing July 2013. Everything arrived in perfect condition and liked many features of the printer and wireless capabilities. About 6 months later I ran into an issue I needed HPs assistance. I needed the service tag to call or email or chat with HP. The picture directly online from my desktop to their site did not accurately show where the service tag was located so we searched and could not locate anywhere on the Printer.
"Painful and slow: clunks and clicks all the time!"

Pros: Reasonably cheap to run compared with an inkjet. Good scanning ability and works as a photocopier. Wireless (once set up) allows multiple users to access the printer.
Cons: No duplex: just try reversing a pile of 30 sheets to discover it has sucked in the first 2 pages together... Unreliable ink spread on HP toner cartridges - some pale spots requiring an early change of cartridge Noisy and inelegant!
Summary: I purchased this printer about a year ago and it setup just fine. However over that last year it has be unreliable and I am often unable to print. I have it on my home WIFI and at this point I cannot print even with it connected by cabling it directly to my MacBook Pro. It has been extremely unreliable lately and I am ready to throw it away. The tech support is difficult from HP and I just don't have the time to continuously fiddle to get it to work.
Summary: I bought this printer to replace a B&W HP that I purchased in 1999 (yes, another century!) that finally gave up the ghost after years of faithful, if increasingly slow, printing. I have other printers, but wanted a printer/scanner/copier laser combo (no fax, which I did not want anyhow)and an option for printing in color. I am impressed with the sturdiness of this one -- but it was not easy to set up.
Summary: I did not purchase this item through Amazon so it is nothing on them this is just a product review. This is just a heads up if you are thinking of buying this printer. I changed the black ink cartridge, looked simple pulled old one out put new one in. Machine started to make a hammering sound turned off right away. Ink drum was stuck called HP support absolutely no help. Took to local computer repair shop that works on HP equipment.
Summary: I have used this printer very sparingly. The printed copies are okay but the printer is very unreliable. Sometimes it doesn't work at all. I tried a new connection (thinking it was the cord connecting with the computer, but it too, doesn't work). I was told by the folks at office depot that they quit carrying the printer because they had gotten too many complaints. My trouble has been going on for almost 6 months but I kept thinking I could get it to work.
Works Fine...When it decides to work...and on it's own schedule!

Summary: This is the first negative review I have written in years - I bought this to replace an older HP 3015 Laserject multi function device that was great...until HP stopped providing support and updates. I bought this one with high expectations, but have been summarily disappointed. I would not recommend this device at all...actually would warn folks about buying it. THE REPLACEMENT CARTRIDGES ARE EGREGIOUSLY EXPENSIVE - EVEN BY LASER PRINTER STANDARDS.
Summary: UPDATE: DO NOT BUY if you care about the ability to scan multiple pages and save into one PDF. This printer does NOT have this capability (ADF Duplex). My mother and I found out about this just a tad bit late--when you open the software HP Scan, it does not give you the option to add or remove pages onto the same doc. LAME. Thought all scanners were way past this. Will be re-selling.
Summary: This printer is slow, is constantly recalibrating and rather temperamental, particularly at printing powerpoint handouts, but worked OK until I bought a set of genuine HP cartridges with a magenta that the machine did not like. The machine constantly said the magenta was "a used cartridge" and only printed intermittently.
