Summary: Got this printer for $10 AS-IS with the note that it freezes after a print job. Installed it while writing this. Hey, there is a "new" firmware out which can be downloaded from HP, the driver suite will also get it automatically during install. Reading through other reviews: I do NOTE use the FAX function, cannot test it. Install is done, unit printed a test page over the network and still reacts to my input. Network scanning 'works' from my own PC.
Summary: I don't know what has happened to HP. They used to make well rounded good products. Now they make disposable half-assed products. This one is great as a multifunction printer/scanner/fax if you leave it on your desk. It prints fast, it scans with quality, and has all the other features you should expect from a multifunction product. The Problem is: as a Networked Device it falls flat. My company purchased one including the added "MFP" Network compatibility.
Summary: This printer died on us after about 2 months of light use. Nothing from the LCD screen when attempting to turn off/on. It was still under HP warranty and they offered me a deal where I would pay $80 for them to fix it the next day. Ha! The other offer was that I would have to pay to ship it to a repair depot in Virginia with a 2 week turnaround. I sent it; they fixed it, but it still cost me downtime and the shipping cost.
Summary: I purchased a used M1522nf and it failed shortly out of the box. First the formatter board died. I was able resurrect it by removing it and baking it at 350 for 10 minutes in the oven. Then the scanner stepper motor failed. Again, i was able to fix it by purchasing another motor for $35. It seemed to work good for a few months, then started locking up or shutting down sporadically. The last straw was when the replacement stepper motor failed again.
Summary: We were really in need of a multifunctional printer such as the HP LaserJet 1522nf, and it did okay for a while. We never got the "Scan to PC" to work, but we worked around it. It was handy for copies and, of course, printing, but one day it just started dying. We restarted it, reloaded software, etc. It would work once or twice and then nothing. Now the display doesn't even come on. We can hear it start up, but it will do nothing. Disappointing.
Summary: I should have learned my lesson from the first HP Printer I owned, the HP Color LaserJet 1600. I took a baseball bat to that one and got the HP Laserjet M1522nf. I was hoping my mistake in getting the HP 1600 was buying a color printer when all I really needed was black & white. I had high hopes for the M1522nf. Black & white only, no color cartridges to hassle with.
HP still has no Windows 7 x64 driver for this Device

Summary: I have several computers attached to my home network: A mac, a Vista x32, and a Vista x64. Originally, the printer worked on all three. A few weeks into ownership, I began experiencing problems with the vista x64 os system. I logged to much time with INDIA and after sending out repairmen 2x, finally got the printer working....and fairly nicely. However, I recently upgraded the vista x64 os to Windows 7 x64.
Summary: I purchased this printer to replace an HP 3030 that provided 4 years of good service. As is typical of HP all-in-one (AIO) printers, the software is easy to install but is very convoluted. The Toolbox function does not offer as many options as the HP 3030 so any settings must be done at the printer's control panel. Now to the real problems.
Summary: I owned this MFP for about 4 weeks before it completely died. For about 2-3 weeks before it died I often noticed that it was unresponsive after having been idle for a day or so. The display would show the wrong date and time and none of the buttons could wake the machine up. My only choice was to cycle the power.
