Summary: I bought one of these from Staples in April 2008. It went kaput in November 2010. While it worked, it did a fine job, but then, for no good reason, the scanner started making grinding noises during startup, lengthening the startup, and finishing with 'Scanner error 5'.
Summary: HP won't even support the newly purchased parts from their part store because the printer is out of warrant by a month. They expect $40 an hour to trouble shoot over the phone even though they know the problems that we have had in the past. Firmware updates don't help, don't bother!!
Cons: We bought 5 of these MFC printers for our company and we replaced 5 of these printers under warranty. The new ones constantly have to be restarted to regain fax function. The ADF malfunctioned on 3, so far. Ordered a roller kit ($40w/shipping) to replace one of the malfunctioning ADF to find that...
Summary: This is very unfortunate. I spec'ed and evaluated HP printers for many years while working in IT for a global company. How far this company has fallen. While I don't expect this to be a workhorse printer given the price and category, I would expect it to work for more than several months and work as...
Cons: Software is terrible - scan to PC never worked. Formatter board went out twice. Found out from local HP tech that they had a recall. HP Tech Support told me the problem was due to printer plugged into surge protector. Terrible, terrible customer/tech support. Cannot fax from PC. Must fax from fla...
Summary: I went for this particular model because we have another M1522nf (purchased brand new from a brick and mortar) that has been plugging away for close to a year now. That one has had very few minor hiccups. And those were simply cleaning related.
Pros: Price. And this "Re-certified" model has a wonderful 1st review which I wish I had read before purchase.
Cons: Unit was DOA. Would not power on fully. Only once did I see anything on the LCD display, and that was an initialization counter that only made it two clicks before the machine powered off. Had read on one of HP's support sites that they recommend plugging straight into the wall outlet and not int...
Summary: It was a nice fast all-in-one device, but it died after 14mos of very light home use. Do a search for "M1522nf nothing on screen... no lights upon activation" on the HP user boards... sounds like a technical design flaw that is frying these units after one year.
Summary: The printer lasted ONE week before it experienced a fatal error. Amazon would not accept my request to return the product. HP said they would send me a refurbished machine upon receipt of the defective one. Amazon did not stand behind the product nor did they honor their return policy.
Summary: I just got off the phone with someone from HP because my M1522nf will not scan because I bought a new computer with Windows 7. I called HP and was told sorry it will no longer work we don't support this product anymore. So I now have a $400 paper weight.
Summary: I bought this printer and loved it for a year. After my warranty ran out, the scanner broke and whenever I turn on the printer it now says "Scanner Error 5 Turn off then on." I cannot scan or copy anything on it now.
Summary: I have now gone through 2 of these. Each dying a few months after the warranty expired. When they work they are good. The only problem being the fairly expensive toner cartridges. But after a year or two, they start to get unreliable.
Summary: Well, I use to think HP made good printers..WRONG!!!! I thought they as a large US company would have great service ..WRONG!!! You call an 800 or 888 number or local US number and ask for Customer service......Guess where your call is Routed??? Costa Rica!!! for gods sake!!
