Very reliable and economical MFC for home office or small business.

Summary: I owned an identical HP3380 for 6 years. It is perfect MFC for a home office or small business. The hinges on the scan unit had cracked after years of use and the scan unit would have to be replaced. They are hard to find. I decided to replace the 3380 and found one with very low page count. The 'new' 3380 works perfectly just like the old one did when it was new. I have now repaired the hinges on the old 3380 with some ingenuity and super glue.
Summary: The HP 3380 printer is a good printer, but it does have problems. First Bad; HP software won't install on Vista, so you lose alot of the functions with vista. Second Bad; The scanner assembly (under the glass) gets dirty and the mirrors must get cleaned, or it displays the error message "scanner error", which then makes it useless even for printing.
