HP Envy 5530 e-All-in-One Printer

Channel5
4 October 2014
  • Excerpt: Meet the HP Envy 5530 e-All-in-One printer, one of HP's latest printers to bear the Envy name, which means it should offer you better quality than many of its peers, and look good doing it too. It's a printer aimed for the home, rather than the office, but HP says it can easily pull off double duty too - and it even has wireless skills to let you ping over documents and photos over the internet. It sounds great on paper, but is it any good in practice?

  • Pros: The HP Envy 5530, despite being a functional first printer, surprisingly looks pretty good. HP is taking its Envy branding to its printer range too, giving each product a focus on style and substance to ensure it'll look good on your desk. The 5530 succeeds in looking clean-cut and sharp, thanks to its matte black finish. Up front on the silver ridge of the printer, you'll find a 2.7-inch touch screen display, and although it's smaller and shallower than some of the p...
  • Cons: Priced up at around £90, the 5530 isn't the most expensive printer in the world, but for that relatively budget price, you'll find that HP has cut some corners to keep costs down. For starters, it's not ideal at handling paper, as the tray is limited to just 100-sheets, and it's a fully manual affair: you won't find an automatic document feeder, and you'll have to pop the tray back up once you're done printing if you want to keep dust out. Thankfully, its automatic tw...
