Summary: I just got this printer last week to replace my 6 year old baby, a 6940. For what I use a printer for, this will work fine. I have just 2 minor complaints. It doesn't hold much paper. And when printing photos on 4X6 paper, the photo paper has to go way back in the tray. Getting the remainder of the stack out meant I had to use a long pair of tweezers to grasp it. I don't print THAT many photos, so I guess that's not going to be a big deal for me.
Summary: I just bought this printer from Costco, on sale for $47, and it includes the USB cable and all the ink cartridges, so if that was what was swaying your decision it is now moot. Seems to be a solid little performer for household use. Anyways this is a new model from the pictured one complete with a LCD screen etc. so the old reviews are probably no longer valid.
Summary: GOOD: individual colour cartridges, duplexer saves paper, print quality. NOT GOOD: (1) very difficult to clean print heads. Black clogs sooner or later due to pigment-based ink (common complaint.) Print head cannot be removed from printer, so cleaning the clog takes hours if you're lucky. (2) Paper tray holds only about 50 sheets.
