Summary: I had a canon pixma printer before i bought this. Canon pixma printer had very bad linux support. Especially color prints under linux are horrible. This one works awesome in linux. It works in linux as good as it works in windows. Canon one was only a printer. But this one prints , scans and copies.
Pros: - Has lots of features., - wifi enabled, so no need for messy usb cables. Also supports usb cable if you need., - Can print directly from android or iphone without needing a PC., - Works very well under linux., - scans, cloud printing, copy
Cons: - Ink is costly and they have some kind of protection mechanism where it detects refilled ink (through expiry period of the ink cartridge) and non genuine ink. They do all this via chip embedded on ink cartridge.
Summary: i use everything apple at home and my small business. Needed the ability to print over wi-fi. This printer did just that. Why 4 stars? I have Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8) on my mac and it was HELL to install this and leave it working. Bought the same printer for my sister who still uses Lion (OSX 10.7) and the installation CD made it work in seconds. Scans thru Preview in the MacOS and its awesome. Copy as well.
Summary: This printer suits my needs perfectly: it has a good scanner and a good printer. The printer can be set to black & white to save colour ink. The set up directions are easy to follow, so setting it up for wireless use was quite easy.
Summary: Picked one of these up on Black Friday at Wal-Mart for $33. It seems to do everything well, but there have been software issues to update the product since the sale - server crash maybe? Still can't update the software, and there's something slightly annoying about buying a new printer, only to have the little screen read "please update product" with no solution in place as yet. I'm sure they'll get this fixed, but it's an annoyance.
