Conclusion: It was despite its size, noisiness and memory intensive software a reasonably good multifunction printer with good quality output, when I had windows XP.
Pros: Full featured multifunction printer with good quality output.
Cons: Basically limited to printing with Windows Vista.

Summary: We have owned this printer for over 5 years with minor problems, until we upgraded to Windows 7,and now HP has not upgraded these drivers for this printer to Windows 7
