HP Color LaserJet 2840 All-in-One

PC Magazine
17 May 2005
  • Conclusion: Hewlett-Packard got almost everything with the HP Color LaserJet 2840 All-in-One. Output quality is among the best we've seen for a color laser at any price, and the scan, fax, and copy features cover all the important bases.
  • Pros: High-quality output for a color laser. Four-function all-in-one for printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. Includes Ethernet connector. Fifty-page ADF.
  • Cons: Exceptionally slow performance for a color laser.

As this is a laser printer Labs, we concentrated on its printing capabilities, but we did assess its other features as well.

  • Summary: The media card slots and the extensive image software make the 2840 attractive for offices that print lots of photos, but its slowness and mediocre image quality will incline many prospective buyers to steer clear.
  • Pros: Direct media card printing, colour images look quite good
  • Cons: Many PC-only functions, slow scanning, poor quality scans
