Summary: A new printer was purchased from Office Depot which had been on display. Immediately upon setting it up a major leak in the yellow ink delivery line occurred creating a mess. Epson replaced the unit with another refurbished unit. The refurbished unit has printhead nozzle proboems which result in streaked printing output, and the rear document feeder has major problems feeding envelopes.
Summary: Thank you for allowing me to review this printer. I am a Real Estate agent who needs lots of marketing material and thought buying this printer would help. Unfortunately, the best quality is for black and white.
Excerpt: Despite shaking the ink cartridges upon installation, the color of diagrams seems light. When printing the same pages several days later, the color has become pastel. For colors that appear very bright, the pastel is disappointing. Have not tried to print photographs, but based on the pale color of diagrams and logos, I am concerned that the printing result will be poor.
Summary: I purchased this printer less that a year ago. One day blobs of yellow ink started showing up on the paper. I have several hundred dollars worth of ink on hand so had little choice but to buy the same model again. I hope to have better luck with this one.
Excerpt: If you purchase this printer, I would recommend buying the extended warranty. I LOVED this printer until the yellow ink started leaking all over the inside. Just do a search for Epson WP 4540 leaking yellow ink. I must have lucked out because mine lasted 18 months and 7004 pages printed. Most of the complaints about the yellow leaking seem to happen within 8-14 months.
Pros: Compact Design, Durable construction, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Fast Print Time, Loved Having 2 Trays
Summary: If this printer didn't have problems it would be a great value. After replacing the yellow ink cartridge all printed copies came out with a 2-4 inch wide solid yellow stripe from top to bottom. I tried a second cartridge same problem. The heads were cleaned-same problem. Since printer repairs are so expensive, I can't decide if I should replace, or repair, this printer.
