Summary: The ink refills are exorbitant in cost and Epson makes it impossible to use generic ink. I HATE THIS PRINTER because of the high ink cost. I'm ditching it and getting one that can use cheap[er] ink. Otherwise, the printer functioned very well.
Summary: I bought this printer because of the ability to print double sided pages and for printing pictures. The double-sided printing feature worked for about 100 pages then started to jam every time I selected that feature. The printing is not high quality. You can't print more than 3 pages at a time, and you can only print one picture at a time from the port on the front of the unit. This was a waste of money.
Cons: Have never been able to get consistent wi-fi connection to print from any of our computers...works first day and then that's it. Ink is EXPENSIVE and doesn't go far. Cannot install new driver(s) for Lion.
Summary: I purchased this EPSON 635 in Aug 2011. If makes OK paper copies, Very Poor Photo prints, and has bad Warranty parameters. EPSON has Terrible Customr Service and Terrible warranty parameters. The 635 does not work a very long time. Replacements are refurbished models that last even less time. That is if you have time to talk to 4 or 5 customer service represenatives and manage to get a replacement. I'm on my 3rd unit in 15 months. I won't have another EPSON.
Summary: Printer works well and better than other low costs models I've purchased, but I would NEVER buy epson again. It only takes one bad experience. . . I ran out of blue ink and for some reason my Epson Workforce 635 wouldn't print even in gray scale. My husband and I both tried on two different computers for 20 minutes each. I am fairly computer savvy and there was no intuitive solution.
Summary: I have the Canon MX870 and the Epson Workforce 635. I primarily use the Epson for everyday printing and copies. However, the Epson 635 comes no where near the Canon MX870 for scanning. The software and capabilities are glitchy, then you factor in the inferior quality compared to the Canon, I could in no way say I choose the Epson over the Canon for scanning. Again, the printing and copying are superior, the scanning is not.
