Epson WorkForce 600 All-in-One Printer: Review

Electronics Made Easy
12 May 2010
  • Summary: If you're in the market for a new shared all-in-one printer, the Epson WorkForce 600 definitely deserves to be on your short list. You can't beat the price given the features, and this printer should save you money on supplies. The build quality is above average, so it should stand up well to a heavy office workload. An excellent offering from Epson.
  • Pros: 38ppm draft quality printing speed, 27ppm laser quality print speed, Wifi and Ethernet connectivity, All-in-one printer, scanner, copier, fax, photo printer, 2.5 inch color LCD and built-in memory card slots
  • Cons: There are no cons for this product

Epson WorkForce 600 All-in-One Printer

  • Summary: This Epson WorkForce 600 All-in-One Printer got extremely high marks for its ease of use and thoughtful small touches, such as the tiltable control panel. The "microbusinesses" that are the intended market will find it an excellent tool, since quality is high and it's fairly fast. However, since the ink tanks seem to drain fairly fast as well, make sure you either use the "draft" printing for less-important prints or keep a few extra tanks on hand.
  • Pros: Wireless network printer, Excellent DURABrite inks, Great monochrome and color prints
  • Cons: Ink tanks don't last long, Photos are waterproof but easily scratched

Epson WorkForce 600 Review

  • Conclusion: So what's the one glitch we mentioned earlier? It has to do with paper feeding. While the 30-page automatic document feeder works well, we sometimes had snags with the 600's Lexmark-style vertical input tray at the rear, particularly when we inserted the rated maximum of 100 sheets: Some of the frontmost pages slipped an inch or so below the skinny shelf that's supposed to hold paper.
