Horrible and a waste of money!

  • Summary: I wish I never bought this!!! When you run out of the genuine Epson ink, you CANNOT replace it with any kickoff brands! Also, if ONE ink cartridge goes empty (which it does very quickly!!), you cannot override that and simply use black ink only. You are also disabled from using the fax machine! Ink too expensive and yield on them awful!! DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER! IT IS HORRIBLE!! Mine is now in the closet collecting dust! I will be having a sledge hammer party on it soon.

I couldn't be happier with my workforce

  • Summary: Very good piece of equipment. My Linux distro recognised it with no issues, the wireless is very handy and both printer and scanner work like a charm. The printer is big, so be mindful that you will need quite some desk space for it. The interface is simple e efficient even for someone not tech savy. Fax works great too, thou I only used it a couple of times.

Epson WorkForce 500 All-in-One Printer

  • Summary: This printer is soooo bad. The ink runs out right away and they are soooo expensive to purchase. On top of it all if you want to print in black and white only you have to purchase the other color cartridges, which by the way, cost more than the printer itself. RIP OFF!!!!!! Don't buy this printer if you value money because it is a total waste of it. You would be better to put your money in your car, roll down the windows, and let it just fly out.

Turns into a Brick Once a single color is gone

M. Pruitt, Amazon
9 February 2010
  • Summary: Epson Printers are horrible! For one really important reason. You think you're getting an all-in-one setup here, but really you only get to use the scanning and faxing part of this as long as you keep it filled with ink. Most printers, at least last I bought one, will print even if one ink cartridge is empty - by just not using the empty color or degrading print quality. This one can't even print B&W if any single color is empty!!!

Epson Workforce

AliceB "Yarnho", Amazon

  • Summary: Overall this is a great printer. MAJOR DOWNFALL INK CARTRIDGES. I was looking for a quality inexpensive all-in-one printer. Little did I know that the print cartridges need to be changed on a weekly basis. These must be the smallest cartridges in a printer. SHAME on you epson. I will probably junk the printer and get a Kodak or HP with much better ink capacity. Printer is only 5 months old and has already died.

I'm trashing my Epson Printer

Orville Boston "2tellthetruth", Amazon
26 June 2009
  • Summary: I see that the WorkForce 500 is the replacement for the CX5400 printer and I also see that reviewers are having the same problems I've had with the older model. The only thing good I have to say about Epson printers is that the ink doesn't fade like HP ink. Epson printers drink ink. They are built to do that. I'm printing three 45x28" signs, two in color, one B&W. Part of the sign is white, about 25%. If I ever get done I will have used $100 of ink.
