Summary: Did my homework using reviews on Amazon - everything works OK. My main gripe is with the ink cartridges - I bought the 'Epson-compatible' cartridges from Amazon at the same time as the printer. The first time I changed the black ink cartridge I ended up having to go to a local Epson engineer. He advised me that 84% of issues related to Epson printers were to do with non-Epson cartridges being used.
Summary: Print and scan quality are very good to excellent. That is where the good news ends. Just do a search for "Epson Ink Cartridge Not Recognized" and you'll see why. Even with fully original new cartridges, this thing suddenly decides not to recognise them and completely locks you out. With the Windows drivers you may be able to over-ride this by turning the Epson Monitor off... not possible with the Mac drivers, however.
Summary: I've had this printer for just over a year (just enough time to go past warrenty!) and like many others the black has stopped working. No amount of cleaning etc. will solve the problem. A call to Epson was a waste of time, not interested even though they know it's a big problem. I also never managed to get Epson scan to work on either XP or 7, I did try their help desk but all they could advise was re-install.
Summary: 18 months working fine then the black failed to print. 2 new cartridges, head cleaning kit etc and still no black. Heading to the local dump. Thanks Epsom for 18 months of printing......... Never again.
Summary: got this printer it was good for a month then the heads kept blocking up so i had to keep cleaning the nozzles with cotton buds to print then the black wouldn't work but it did in any other color so all my documents had to be printed in red now it keeps jamming have troubleshooted the problem but it keeps persisting still my opinion go for another brand this really is not worth the trouble
Summary: Bought this printer just over a year ago and it is an utter, complete and total load of garbage. From day one it has been temperamental and has, with the guarantee JUST expired, refused to recognise the Epson ink cartridges I have just purchased for it.It seems to spend all its time drinking the ink and refusing to print anything. This is the ONLY Epson printer I will ever buy.
Summary: I've had my SX515W printer for 13 months and had about 8 months use out of it. Good at the start but the dreaded 'no black and white printing' has now struck. It is a problem with the print heads as it will not even copy in black and white. I contacted Epson nad their attitude was one of 'Pay for having it repaired'.
Summary: Had the same problem as many other reviewers. Had to change the printer cartidges - could never get black ink to work again. Blew through 2 sets at great expense by following the instructions to clean heads. Would have been cheaper to buy a new printer.
Summary: Have only had this printer set up for around 8 weeks and have not in any way given it any 'hammer'. Today, I typed a few lines and pressed print to find a blank sheet of paper has spewed from it...Replaced the black cartridge and still a blank sheet is fed to me. Done a nozzle check - every other colour apart from black is okay, for which the print test is completely blank.
Summary: **CHANGED REVIEW BELOW** Well it prints out I can say that much. it's quick and quiet enough. I got the wifi setup to work and then it did not work. And it took a while to do all that (see similar stories from other reviews) I tried linking up to my windows 2003 server. Then found Epson don't support windows server 2003 (ie any reasonable sized business ???!!!) Luckily I have a wired network so to save time I just USBd it into a windows XP machine and shared it...sorted.
