Summary: Had this thing for about a year now and it is THE worst printer that I've not only ever owned, but ever used as well! What's wrong with it? 1. You can't print in just black. Most printers allow you to print in just black, this one doesn't. 2. The ink is outrageously expensive and doesn't last long at all. Compatible cartridges don't work, or work for five minutes and then can't be recognised.
Summary: You just have to look at the number of bad reviews to know I'm not alone with my opinion. As I write 31 at 1 star compared to 25 a 5 stars. The fact it is packaged without the cable you need to use it is an indication of the philosophy of this printer. At first I felt this printer was acceptable.
Summary: Worked fine for a couple of months. Runs out of ink, or detects it has, very quickly, and now is not feeding paper. Problems are erratic, Epson's site not much help. Basically disposable, and it's a large lump of plastic with a working scanner that's going to landfill, which is a shame. Replaced previous epson when they stopped making the cartridges for it and was hoping for a similarly robust replacement, extremely disappointed.
Summary: My reason for purchasing this all-in-one was primarily to print out university work and to scan in documents related to my work. I now sit here, a day before my assignment is due feeling incredibly frustrated at how useless this printer is. I am unable to print out my black and white assignment because the colour cartridges are apparently empty (despite never being used).
Summary: I bought one of these for home use from Staples because of the price, and very quickly realised that I had been completely suckered. This is a prime example of cynical consumer manipulation. Printer £35 (they took £30 because I negotiated at the till) followed by a lifetime of ink at £36 a time. Don't waste your time or money on Epson cheap printers, do some proper research (note that I didn't) and check out the cost of ink per page over long term use.
Summary: Treat this as a disposable printer and just throw it when the ink runs out, original replacement cartridges cost more than the printer and it is designed/programed to refuse to work with non original or refilled cartridges. Total rip off, also great for the planet that this cheap lump of plastic comes all the way from China, lasts a few weeks and has now gone to the tip, no doubt on it's way around the word again now to be recycled somewhere.
Summary: I'm a Mac technician of some 23 years. I have installed many Epsons and have preferred them to other makes. Buying this one was a big mistake. I hate it with a passion. Spend another £20 for a reliable, quiet and cheaper (in the long run) printer. It plays up with Mac OS 10.4.11 on a G3 chip which is the main reason I got this one for my customer. Sometimes it prints but mostly fails.
Summary: This is the worst printer I've ever had the misfortune to use. It prints extremely slowly and, even though I always purchase Epson cartridges, it takes about 20 minutes for the printer to recognise them. I was waiting for a gap in my schedule to return the printer on the basis that it is not merchantable quality, but (to my shame) I got so angry trying to get it to recognise a cartridge that I hit it several times and smashed the glass. Oops -- no money back for me now.
Summary: I bought this because i thought having seperate ink cartridges would make life easier and be cheaper as i rarely use colour ink. Low and behold... i bought a brand new black ink cartridge and didnt bother replacing the colour as dont need them. Printer WILL NOT PRINT!!! If one cartridge is empty it refuses to print!, even though i need only black (and document has been typed in black). TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!!!
