Excerpt: Believe it or not, up until a couple of months ago I was still typing letters on an old manual typewriter inherited from my mother. So when I moved house recently I thought I would chuck that old typewriter out and surge ahead into the 21st century and …
Excerpt: We have always liked the Epson brand for printers as we have always found then to be hardwearing and reliable, my parents were replacing their printer so asked if we would like their old ones which is this model. The printer is available to buy on Amazon at £70 but it does seem that generally this printer has about had it's day.
Pros: Easy to use, great quality printing, multi functions
Summary: Had this thing for about a year now and it is THE worst printer that I've not only ever owned, but ever used as well! What's wrong with it? 1. You can't print in just black. Most printers allow you to print in just black, this one doesn't. 2. The ink is outrageously expensive and doesn't last long at all. Compatible cartridges don't work, or work for five minutes and then can't be recognised.
Summary: I have persevered with this printer for a year now and decided to take it to the tip. It is expensive to run. The ink cartridges do not least long and it is most annoying to use. The paper keeps slipping through without printing and even the smallish print job is a hit and miss affair which can take ages. I have hardly used it and now have finally given up in despair and ordered someting else. It may have been a cheap printer initially but proved an expensive mistake.
Excerpt: Epson Sytlus SX125 Printer I purchased this printer about six months ago after replacing my old one, which was performing poorly. I wanted to purchase a cheap printer, but one that also had good functions and performed well, with decent quality in its output. The Epson SX125 serves that purpose well. The printer came with a set up disk, which you just pop into your PC. The disk uploads all the required printer drivers to your PC.
Pros: Cheap . Works well . Built - in Printer/Copier/Scanner . Looks good .
Cons: Ink can be expensive if you use it extensively .
Summary: We got the printer in the post, and plugged it in (I run Ubuntu) so the printer set up and worked straight away, downloaded the scanner driver and installed, worked easily. printed about 10-15 pages before the black cartridge died completely, reseller sent me a replacement and that fixed it. about 100 pages down black started printing bad, so I ran a "Clean heads" routine, after which the cartridges said they wanted replacing ... all the cartridges.
Summary: You just have to look at the number of bad reviews to know I'm not alone with my opinion. As I write 31 at 1 star compared to 25 a 5 stars. The fact it is packaged without the cable you need to use it is an indication of the philosophy of this printer. At first I felt this printer was acceptable.
Summary: I bought this Epson to replace an HP printer which I was never happy with from the start. This EPSON, after setting up, seems to give good quality print and is easy to do-even for me who is not the best person with elecronics, machinery etc.! Only used the printer few times but so far-so good. It seems like a good purchase.
