Summary: Oh, it would print a pretty picture, except for certain yellows and greens, but skin tones and grass and trees were accurate. The trouble is was this machine was purposely designed to fail. Even though I have owned it for maybe 6 years, I have not printed all that much. Have probably replaced ink cartridges 3 times. An error message appeared on the LCD screen saying "Service Required. Parts Inside Your Printer Need to be Replaced".
Summary: Just in case someone is still selling this RX600 somewhere don't waste your money on it! Mine has been in a landfill for 5 years now. As other owners reported the LCD screen quits working in a year or less. I have never purchased another Epson product since. Instead I have migrated to Canon and have been very pleased with their products.
Summary: I bought this printer about 2 years ago, worked great, was very pleased with all features. Unfortunately the LCD stopped working after 18 months and now its virtually unusable. This was the first time I had bought Epson, and never again. Too many alternative out there to risk wasting hard earned cash on poor quality product with manufacturer who doesn't care for customers.
Summary: If you hate spending big dollars on ink cartridges.... this printer is the answer to your problem. To give you an example: I recently purchased 2 complete sets of non oem cartridges with 2 extra black cartridges on ebay for a total of 14 cartridges) for $14.00 with free shipping. This is a high quality photo printer using 6 cartridges to produce fantastic color photos. You can also easily add a bulk ink feeder for even more ink savings.
Summary: Any search of the RX600 and the words "blank lcd" or "screen" will show you that the lcd failure is a common problem with this unit. It is very difficult to use without the lcd. Search will also show that Epson is choosing to ignore this. Buy the RX600 at your own risk because you're on your own once you open the box. My first and last Epson product.
break open the 'empty' cartridge - it's full of ink!
19 November 2010
Summary: I really like the printer. hate the con game with the cartridges. Epson found a cash cow. Make great printers that kill ink cartridges while they're still full of ink! REALLY expensive ink cartridges that you can't refill and can't substitute with generics. What a racket!!! Tonite I got the familiar...'cannot print, light cyan cartridge is empty' from my printer. So I took out the old cartridge, put in the new one. THEN, I took the old 'empty' cartridge and shook it.
Summary: I'm completely frustrated with this printer. If it weren't for the problem with ink running out and only being able to print if all ink cartridges are full, then I'd be satisfied, but that is not the case. All I want to do is print a black and white document but can't because a couple of the colors have gone dry (there are 5 color cartridges). The most frustrating problem is that I haven't even used the printer since I last installed brand new color cartridges!!!!
Summary: i have owned a number of printers before deciding to buy this brand printer on e-bay. i have been using it for about 2 weeks now and cant say enough good things about it. it is very versatile for a printer having multiple functions. i use it to create photos that i print off of my computer. it does awonderful job. the ink comes in 6 different colors so the pics come out more realistic.
Summary: I decided to buy this product because I had been a sales rep for Epson for 2 years and had a lot of ink that would work in this printer. I looked around a lot before deciding to buy this one. This printer is great! 6 separate ink cartridges mean that you don't waste ink. It can print, copy, scan, print pictures directly from a digital camera's memory card (no need for a computer) and it can also print from negatives and 35mm slides!
Summary: I know you want to hear about the RX600 and I hope this info about its predecessor, the RX500 is somewhat helpful to you: I bought my RX500 in March of 06 and it has truly been a fantastic machine. IT does the printing, copying very well. The software is most user friendly and I've NEVER had a problem with it and have used it soley for home use. Photo prints are about a 7 on a 10 scale, however. Sorry to hear about the LCD failures on the 600s.
