Epson Stylus RX640 : Good quality all-in-one

  • Excerpt: I'm a big fan of digital photography, photoshop and printing my own pictures in every imaginable format. Ever since I invested in my own digital camera I have loved printing my own little 6x4 prints straight away and at a relatively low cost. I've had a succession of Epson printers and a separate scanner but when I saw the RX640 model which is an all-in-one inkjet printer, scanner and copier I decided that it was best to consolidate.
  • Pros: Has printer, scanner, copier, direct from memory card printing and direct CD printing
  • Cons: Quite bulky

You won't find many better than this

  • Excerpt: The Epson Stylus Photo RX640 is an excellent all in one printer. It allows you print, photocopy and scan documents at the touch of a button. We'd had printers before, but this is the first all in one system that we've bought, and we are really impressed. We've found one of the most useful features to be the photocopying.

OK if you want an all rounder.

  • Excerpt: I bought this printer to scan slides and negatives and do the odd photography print. Does it do what I bought it for? I suppose so, but it could do it better. It is compromised by the fact that is it a scanner and a printer, obviously two separate devices would be better quality. My primary complaint about the printing side, is that it uses an awful lot of ink. And of course, buying six separate cartridges at nearly a tenner each makes it quite expensive!

  • Excerpt: I recently bought the RX640 machine and I am most impressed with the ease, speed and quality of the work I get back from it. Printing photos is so easy and gives very sharp photos, colour saturation is the best I have seen. Scanning photos, slides, negatives or text gives brilliant quality results. It also looks good. If you do a lot of photo printing and scanning look no further!

  • Excerpt: I was amazed at how well this DEVICE does everything. You cant call it a printer because it does so much more. The 35mm negative scanner is chrystal clear up to massive resolutions and it even prints directly on CD/DVDs. You can plug an SD card in and print directly from it, or even a USB memory stick, and I bet a lot more which I havent even tried. I have hammered it already and it is taking the punishment . . . Well done Epson.

  • Excerpt: I only bought this printer a few months ago but I am very impressed with the quality of my photos, the view finder where I can crop, enlarge, etc on this stand-alone printer - the slides system is so easy and I am so pleased with the results. There are so many things you can easily do with memory card, copy, negatives, slides, scan and to produce such good results! I would definitely buy the same printer when I have used this one out!

  • Excerpt: Bought this several months ago. Really pleased with the quality of both photos and text. The only fault is that its a bit slow on draft printing and not as quick as my previous epson dx5400. Otherwise brill!

  • Excerpt: Although not in stock now - model superceded by others - this is one of the best Epson machines I have ever had. It goes on and on and produces excellent prints every time. If you can get one, dont hesitate! I just hope that Epson are still producing this one. It is a solid machine and very reliable.
