I bought this printer because it was supposed to be great for photos. When I used it to print black-and-white photos, I found that they looked odd, with an obvious magenta cast to them that did not look good. After consulting with Epson support, I was told there was nothing that could be done to correct this. I have not used it to print color photos.

As a text printer, it is nice and fast, but it's not good for occasional use. If I don't print something at least once or twice a week, a cleaning cycle is needed for the black ink. The cleaning cycle always uses some of every ink color. Since I usually only print from it once every 3 weeks or so on average, I constantly waste ink. I spend about $60-80/year on ink, and I think 85-90% of my costs go to cleaning the cartridges. The most aggravating aspect of this is that one cannot clean the ink heads if any of the colors are too low. So, even though all I need is to print a document using black ink, I sometimes have to go to the store to buy magenta ink, for example, before the head cleaning cycle can be run in order to get it to print the document. This is a big problem because when I want to print something I often want it immediately instead of after a trip to the store when I have time for that. For this reason, I would not buy this printer again. For someone who prints several times a week, I imagine this is not a problem and it would be pretty nice, especially if the scanning feature or color printing for disk labels was useful.
