Summary: My last printer was also an Epson but it went the way of all flesh. Not the seller's fault, but this model is a bummer ... agonizing noises as paper literally shoots through it and I really do not trust it. I'm glad the price was right!!
Summary: This printer (Epson Sylus CX5000) is fine EXCEPT I am having to change the ink cartridges way too frequently. I do not use the printer any more than the average home user. Trouble is that once the ink level gets below a certain point, it just stops printing.
Summary: The printer itself is OK. However, I am frustrated by how the ink cartridges operate. If one runs out of ink, the machine will not allow you to print anything. For example, if I need to print black- and the blue cartridge is out- I am not able to print even all black text.
Summary: I do not recommend this product, or ANY Epson printer, because even if you have a full black and white cartridge, the printer will not print unless all of the color cartridges are also full, even if you are not using them. Also, Epson has chosen to pursue un-American business practices.
Summary: I suppose as far as aesthetics and quality goes, this is a fairly decent printer. However, for those on a budget, don't be drawn in by its low price. If any of the color cartridges is out of ink, the printer will not even print all black text, even if the black cartridge if full.
Summary: Own it for about a month, have printed like 10 grayscale A4 papers, my 3 color ink cartridges are below half. Can you believe this? I asked Epson customer service and they are saying that the printer has to use small portion of color ink in order to print black and white paper. Is this an excuse?
Summary: As an office supply store salesperson pointed out to me (after my purchase) most of these printer companies make their money off the ink sales. This printer seems to go through massive amounts of ink, and the printer settings do not allow you much control over the amount of ink that is used.
Summary: I have always liked Epson printers. However, this one has been nothing but disappointment. Its black and white printing is okay, but it is extremely inconsistent in print quality for color prints. I often have to print the same picture several times before getting one that is acceptable.
Pros: The printer has a sleek appearance. The scanner is very fast, and I love the fact you can make color copies with it too. The all-in-one function with such price was a deal. The glossy photo border-less prints has a very pleasant quality.
Cons: The printer is loud even at the quiet mode. The economic mode makes illegible print outs with very light gray. The moderate capacity ink runs out in 2 weeks less than 100 color prints. It doesn't have an individual place for 4x6 photo paper, therefore, it adds more work when you need to change th...
Summary: THe manual aslo states that you can't print after one cartridge is empty. I ahven't quite hit the bottom of my colors yet but I'm super annoyed that I've had this printer for just about 2 months and already need to purchase new ink. I 've printed fewer than 150 copies.
Pros: print quality is pretty good. photo quality is average but i don't use it for that anyway--i just prefer professional prints. Looks nice. Super easy set up(my 5 year old "helped")
Cons: Color cartridges are consumed even when youoverride to print in B & W only. THe purpose of this is so that the unused colors don't become clogged. the manual states that a minimal amount of color is used during every b&w print job for this reason however all of my color cartridges ran out just as...
