Summary: Worked fine until we tried to replace the ink cartridges. My wife kept repeating replacing the namebrand Epson cartridge, and it kept telling her it was "unable to recognize the ink cartridge". It eventually worked, for some unknown reason. Happened again, but has not recovered - simply not a good printer if you value your time. Simply seems like a poorly engineered product.
Summary: WORST printer ever. I ran out of ink so I bought a black ink cartridge THEN found out that you have to replace ALL of them, what a rip off. So I finally buy the colored ink cartridges and the black ink dried out.... so I go back to the store to buy another black ink cartridge and then after doing some head cleaners to get the black ink flowing i get a message that I am running low on cyan and yellow. I have only done about 3 run throughs.... WORST ink ever.
Summary: It seems that the main concern from other owners is the high ink cost and the fact that you can't print if only 1 cartridge is empty. Well if you're a nerd like me, then you've already learned about printer CIS systems, or refillable cartridges with 'hacked' chips. These things are a dream. High-quality SUPER low-cost dye based inks. The printer itself works great on this system and his turned this little $30 machine into quite a little powerhouse.
Excerpt: I got this at Office Max for under $100. There are positive attributes of the machine. It is cheap. It faxes. It receives faxes. If you need a copier for low usage, it's usable. The negative attributes common to many machines is that ink is expensive. I think HP charges even more for ink.
Excerpt: I bought this for the scanner. It works fine. I have not printed more than 40 pages with it and have had to buy 2 sets of ink cartridges. I really hate the cost of keeping this printer going. I keep it around because we have a laser printer that we use most of the time. I bought this because of it being cheep and having the scanner. It does a fine job scanning. The software is easy to use and seems to do a descent job. It prints fine.
Excerpt: After a lot of research on printers and prices, we went with Espon's NX200 All-In-One printer. It is a very impressive machine for the low price. 4x6 photos print out beautifully & color documents do as well. Another plus for this printer is if one color runs out, it won't suddenly refuse to work until you refill it. I had that issue with other printers. Single ink cartridges run for about $10-15 a piece and well worth it.
Summary: Worst product I've ever purchased. Ink runs out in a matter of weeks after normal use. You cannot print any sort of document even if just ONE cartridge is empty. Obviously a ploy to get you digging into your wallet... Save yourself the time and money, and DO NOT purchase this piece of junk.
Summary: This printer works great for color or black and white prints. I also own a Epson NX400 and this nx 200 works just as well. They are just different generation printers. It makes great color prints and color photo prints.
Summary: Like other reviews, you cannot use this machine to make black/white copies if any other color is out. I absolutely hate this printer for pictures. Well, I leaves lines through the pictures. I have done the nozzle clean, line up the heads, ect with no luck. Ugh....after searching and reviewing different printers, I got this one and I am so terribly disappointed. Honestly, if you want to print pictures, go with hp...
