Summary: I purchase this one for a family member who has for years used Epson Printers.he wanted this model because he was able to use a cis tank system as it greatly reduces his costs. He uses this one in his business and it gets heavy use.He has used it now for 2 years and he states it is by far the best epson he has owned, never any issues with it and the costs of operation has paid for it many times over. The CX9400 Fax is a real Winner
Summary: I have had the Epson Stylus CX9400Fax All-in-one printer for over 2 years. I print often and have had to replace the ink more than I'd like. It prints AWESOME and the fax & scan works w/ no problem, HOWEVER.. what the other reviews say about not being able to print black if you are out of other colors is ABSOLUTELY TRUE AND VERY FRUSTRATING! I took the blue ink cartridge out and shook it b/c I know that it isnt empty.
Summary: The ink cartridges are insanely expensive. As in 500 times the price of gasoline and maybe more than gold. You can buy the very same bulk ink online for a few bucks for around 12 ounces. Despite this fact, Epson made the printer's firmware control ink levels. As in, the printer doesn't care how much ink is ACTUALLY in the cartridge, it only cares how much it "Thinks" is in there. Funny how it always seems to favor "empty" instead of "still half full".
Summary: It won't print black & white text if it's out of one of the color inks REGARDLESS to the fact that BLACK INK CARTRIDGE IS FULL!!!! Epson makes their cartridges in a way that fills only 25-30% of cartridge with ink, the rest is air and plastic = you are out out ink much faster than with other printers and do i have to say that cartridges are ridiculously expensive !?
Summary: Pros: acceptable scanning Cons: -Ink value is horrendous. I am *not* a heavy user and have spent more on ink in one year than on the printer itself. -After a year, the printer stopped printing right. Every fifth line of text is unreadable. Out of warranty = no service from Epson. Summary: A printer should last longer than a year, and a year's worth of ink should cost less than the printer. If someone gave a CX9400Fax, I would use it only so long as the ink was free.
Summary: Although I have not used the FAX function yet, I am very satisfied with this printer. It is easy to use and the ink refills are much more cost effective then those printers with just color and black cartridges. This is my second Epson and I would buy again.
Summary: I have had this printer for several months. I have two more Epson Printers and I want to put this one in the garbage. If one document a day was all I printed it would be ok. I have never saw a printer use so much ink!!!! The ink is so expensive. It has ruined documents with black ink blogs. That can be costly. I am very disapointed with Epson.
Summary: Yes, the print quality is good, most ink jets are these days. So let me break this down for you. The printer ink is expensive! If you run out of any one colour, your expensive device is rendered useless. You cannot print grey scale and you cannot use the scanner. That's right, the scanner! Your device is put into a "busy" mode until you replace the offending ink cartridge.
