00 has cost me more then three times that as I had no other recourse then to buy the Cannon Pixma iP100 which is a great printer

  • Summary: Whatever you do, stay away from Epson printers unless you are financially loaded. These printers will send you to the poorhouse! When you change one ink tank and your pictures come out with streaks, the first thing you do is clean the print head: this is where your anxiety will begin because after you clean the print head you will sadly find that you now need to replace one or two more ink tanks.

Big mistake!

  • Excerpt: I bought this Expression 850 after my well used and well loved Artison finally gave up the ghost, despite spending over $100 to try to have it repaired. (by authorized Epson repair people). I use a printer mainly for photography and the 800 left my expectations high. Big mistake! this 850 is a dinosaur compared to the Artison. Takes forever for it to decide to print, suffering through moans and groans for 30 sec or more.

I should have listened.

  • Excerpt: I've used Epson printers for my small business for 15 years. My last printer, the Artisan 725, lasted 5 years with high volume usage. I was sad when it died, but I knew it was time to replace it. It exceeded my expectations. I need a six-ink printer so I read reviews for all of the ones Epson sells. The reviews were mixed, but a lot of people were complaining about the XP-850 printing with lines or not recognizing cartridges, etc. Guess what? They were right!

Dissapointing

  • Excerpt: Bought this one to replace my artisan 835 (my 3rd artisan in 4 years, but i love them) and can't get it to print any black. Have wasted 3 photo sheets and many sheets of reg paper but it just won't come out. Test sheet had line through the font. Each time I put more then one piece of paper in it jams and it won't feed photo paper through lower slot, i have to feed through the back. A disaster! I am taking this back first thing in the morning.

No, just no

  • Summary: First time I've been inspired to submit an Amazon review. Quite simply, stay away unless you like buying ink. This printer gets plenty of use, but it still needs to have the nozzles cleaned every couple weeks. When you run a nozzle check, one of the 6 colors might be skipping. Run the head cleaning cycle, print another test, and this time some other color has gone missing. Repeat 2 or 3 times until finally all colors are (temporarily) printing OK.

Frustrating

spotty, Amazon

  • Summary: I so loathe this printer. Rarely do I ever write a review on anything, but felt compelled to do so in this instance. The ink cartridges run out rather quickly, and it will not let me print in black and white until I replace a worn-out color cartridge. It also puts some strange lines into some of the graphics I put into documents. I'm now finding myself thinking of going back to the only slightly lesser of these evils, an HP printer.
