Summary: I bought this printer in late November 2008. I thought it was awesome. I'm a Mac user and had no trouble at all setting up the wireless, installing software, or using this printer. We loved the way it worked, the software, print quality, speed, low noise level, everything. I also really liked that you could scan multiple page documents into one file, and that it would print double sided (you have to manually thread the paper, but at least it prompted you correctly).
Summary: I wanted to upgrade by ink jet printer as my previous Epson's ink well got full (the well that collects unused ink). My inclination was another Epson because of its print quality. What I wanted was an all-in-three printer (print, scan, copy) along with the ability to bring labels on CD/DVDs. I did not need the extensive photo capabilities. Pluses: Very high quality printing and there are OEM ink cartridges available to allow for less expensive printing.
Summary: I decided to buy this printer because of the direct CD/DVD printing and labeling capability, which I prefer over Lightscribe DVD labeling. I also needed to upgrade my printer to WiFi so that all computers in my household can print to it without having to transfer the documents to a flashdrive. Pros: High quality printer with professional looking output. Wifi printing capability. Easy setup.
Summary: UPDATE #2: Jan. 3, 2012 Two things have happened since my last update. First, I accidentally broke the printer . . . and now it works much better. One day I was so upset at the way it was feeding the paper - see update below - that I slammed the paper drawer in thinking that I didn't care if it broke because that would give me an excuse to buy a new printer that worked.
Summary: I have owned this printer for about a week now. It is the third Epson printer I have owned. Fundamentally, in terms of image quality this is a very good product. Printed documents, photos, DVDs, as well as photo copies and scans all look very good. I am impressed by how good the images look for how little money this printer costs. I am also impress by how fast it prints. It truly delivers when it comes to basic functionality and printing a high quality image.
Summary: I love everything about this printer except that it goes through ink like an SUV goes through gas. I've barely printed a handful of pages and it's already low. The cartridges look smaller to me than the ones I used for years with my Epson Stylus Photo printer. This is clearly Epson's way of robbing us blind. I am considering purchasing a different brand of printer that will at least take me out to dinner before it takes advantage of me.
Summary: THE LONG With the recent demise of an office printer, and quirkiness of a disagreeable scanner, I decided it was time to replace them both with the purchase of a new all-in-one unit. On the day I was set to make a purchase Epson had just released a new series, the Epson Artisan all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. After perusing the specs on the Epson site, I decided to purchase the Epson Artisan 700 that day.
