Summary: Dell reps were very helpful when I bought my computer. When my monitor started making a strange humming sound, they tried to fix it twice over the phone, then they sent a replacement monitor by Fedex. All I had to do is put the old monitor in the same box they sent, write the return number on the box, and give it to the same Fedex guy that delivered the new monitor. Can't get any easier than that! My brother has an HP, and has to pay by the minute for his tech support.
Summary: This monitor is terrific. There is nothing wrong with it. Yet it costs much less than the Sony name monitor. The clarity of the screen is unbelievable. If you do not want to get a flat screen but desire the best computer monitor with an economical price, consider buying from Dell. Also, a flaw occurred on the screen glass near the end of the warranty. After a short phone call to Dell, they shipped out another one, --no questions asked within 2 days!!
Pros: This 17" (generic-Trinitron Style) Monitor is exceptionally clear. Warranty was exceptional.
Summary: Over the past 15 years, I have purchased four Dell computers. As a professional software developer, it is important to me to have a computer which is powerful, extremely reliable and extremely easy to upgrade as new technologies become available and commonplace. All of the Dell computers that I have owned have met these criteria, although one of them was more of a "consumer" model that I purchased for my wife.
Pros: Excellent price/quality ratio, easy to upgrade, flexible purchase options, good customer service
Summary: I really enjoy my Dell. I use the Dell PotiPlex GX110 at work, and I have a 2400 Dimension at home. My university is stocked with the 2400 Dimensions as well. They are very user friendly, and they offer many freebies and discounts on upgrades. When I ordered my DEll I could not get through to customer service easily when I had a question about ordering the CPU online, and when I did get through I had the wrong department, and I had to wait more than 5 minutes, so I hung...
Summary: I have a lot of experience with computers, but have never seen anything this easy to setup and get started. All that you have to do is unpack it out of the box, follow the very well designed diagrams to plug everything in, turn the computer on, and answer a couple of questions. The last thing that you have to do is double-click on the icon that the setup program told you to and your done.
Pros: Extremly easy to setup. I would suggest a Dell to anyone with any level of experience.
Cons: There isn't anything that I don't like about it.
Summary: I was previously an owner of a Gateway 2000 system. It was a fine computer, and all, but I decided last October to give Dell a try. I can honestly say that I will never buy from any other manufacturer. The computer (at the time of purchase) outperformed pretty much anything else on the market. I had one small problem with a graphics glitch, and a quick call to tech support solved the problem within 5 minutes.
Summary: I have purchased several Dell computers over the years. I also recommend them highly to friends, neighbors and relatives. I have over 20 years experience with personal computers and in my opinion, Dell makes the best "off the shelf" systems period. Yes, you can get a lemon from anyone, but their quality and service are unmatched. I bought a P166 four years ago and ran it pretty much 24 hours a day for that entire time.
