Summary: i had this printer for a couple years and it was great. i bought another one i liked it so much. one day both of them stopped working and never could get them working again. dell couldn't help, nor could the geek squad.
Summary: This printer has a widely known issue with not coming out of power saving mode: [...] I'd buy a cheaper printer that you don't have to unplug and plug back in every time you want to print if I were any of you. It would be a very simple driver coding fix to just remove the sleep mode, but it appears Dell isn't interested in fixing their software.
Summary: I have spent hours on the phone with Dell customer service people. They sent me a refurbished machine after my original machine shredded one of its rollers after about 6 months of use. It just shredded...no other word for it. Obviously Dell knew about it, they gave me no flack whatsoever. Just sent me a refurbished one and that was that...Until.... Until I had trouble making it print.
Very nice print quality but spoiled by sleep mode issues

Summary: When this printer works it actally produces really nice quality prints even on standard paper. But you should not buy this printer if you intend to hook it up to a print server. The printer seems to switch off the USB port, so it wont wake up when it see's data. You have to switch it off and on, and in my case I then have to switch the print server off and on as well. It's a pretty major flaw. I tried the latest bios but no luck yet.
Summary: I often print on cardstock, photo paper or labels in my work, which I've done successfully on countless printers in the past. This printer will accept nothing but plain paper...and then often jams anyway. It is absolutely useless to me. I've had good luck with Dell in the past. This makes me very angry.
Summary: I had a 1230C that I loved, and it has been replaced by the 1250C. I had trouble initially with getting the printer to come out of sleep mode once my computer was turned off and back on again. I finally got it to at least come out of the sleep when I turned the printer off and on again. Yesterday, Dell sent an update for the 1250C, and I was hoping of all hopes it was going to fix this sleeper problem. No such luck.
Summary: Paper jams frequently. I have to turn the printer off and back on after a jam. Tried to print 4X6 photos, never could figure out how. After printing any kind of a color image the ink is so shiny that my copier will not produce a decent copy of it. It does copy the black printing okay. I have not tried to deal with Dell on the problems. Even if the fixable problems got fixed I still would not like the printer and am not going to spend any more time and money on it.
Summary: This printer is a rip-off, so is Dell. I had problems from the start.First the printer would not communicate with the computer. Dell did not send a CD. Dell helped me install the printer, over the phone, and then the real problems began. Now my printer can only work if I turn it on and off. Then the miricle ink cartridge which was supposed to last forever died more quickly than the cheap ink ribbon printer. Dell has tried to fix the printer over the phone 2x-no luck.
