Summary: This is not a very reliable product. We have several of these units that we service and are experiencing a 25% failure rate with the scanning mechanism. This effects both scanning and copying.
Summary: I chose this rating because this printer is barely functional. The scanner and copier functions do not work. The indicator shows that it is "locked." After searching the online manual and doing a google search, I can find no way to "unlock" the scanner. Other models show an unlock switch, but there does not appear to be one available for this model. Also, the printer quality is not good. Everything I print has marks on it. These marks are not ink or toner smudges.
Summary: This printer model has many issues. The laser and fuser go bad very early and Dell does not offer replacement parts for these. The fax software is a pain to use, does not work well and is very complicated to set up. The speed could not get any slower, especially the first page because it takes forever to warm up. The imaging unit which has to be replaced every 15000 or so copies is well over $100! When one toner color is out, the whole thing becomes non-functional.
