Summary: As most reviewers have already stated, the printer is nice. User settings are fairly intuitive. My only issue with the printer so far is the ink. I first set up this printer in late August 2011 and I have NEVER used it to print in color. I've ALWAYS selected greyscale, lowest quality fast printing - these are my default settings. I did install the color ink cartridges and print the required adjustment page per the instructions but NEVER ONCE since.
Summary: The only reason this printer does not get 5 stars is because of its size and weight. It looks fairly sleek in pictures, but I was unpleasantly surprised by its heft. Having said all that, setup was a breeze - Canon has certainly improved in that regard from my past experience - and the print quality is exceptional. Document and photo printing is sharp, colors are very realistic and most importantly - the printing is very fast.
Summary: The MX882 scanner is quite good for a multi-function machine. Unlike some other users I found the sheet-fed scanning to be reasonably fast 8-10 pages per minute at 300 dpi. My main complaint is the incredibly long time it takes to print the first page. I am an old geezer, so time is pretty valuable to me, and this printer takes way too long to finally decide it is going to begin printing.
Summary: Right out of the box, the printer could not be set up because of a C000 printer error. I called Canon who, surprisingly told me that they would only replace it with a refurbished unit. Of course, I declined. Since I bought it new, and I really like Canon products generally, I will ask for a replacement and give it one more shot. Fortunately, Amazon will replace it with a new printer and not a refurbished one.
Summary: First of all, this is a HEAVY machine, and I'm not sure why. Bought an HP wireless for one office and this for another because I needed a fax. The HP was for light use, this one, slightly more. The HP was extremely light. Why the weight difference? Second, this machine took quite a while to get operational. The step-by-step instructions were crystal clear and easy to follow.
Summary: We do like the wireless printing feature..or I should say my husband does, my laptop wouldn't connect wirelessly but my laptop is right next to the printer and is connected via usb. Print speed seems a little slower and the ink cartridges are smaller than my old MP830. The biggest difference is scanning speed from the document feeder. It is ridiculously slow. It can take up to 5 minutes to scan 10 pages. I don't know if it is a software issue or not.
