Cons: Piece of junk. Try to fax and it stays stuck and wants to scan from platen. No way will this thing fax. Also, SLOW! Even after it's been on for awhile, it chugs and burps for several minutes before it'll crank out a copy or scan. Just now threw in the dumpster. I doubt Canon's newer models of thi...
Summary: Not only does this printer use a lot of ink AND according to Consumer Reports has one of the highest ink replacement costs - BUT if you run out of ink, the unit will not even let you SCAN!!!! Canon has designed the unit so that the user is forced to keep buying ink, even if not using the printer.
Summary: This printer has 5 ink cartridges and if ANY of them run out of ink, the entire unit is useless until you replace the ink cartridge. Run out of blue ink, you can't print in black & white, can't fax, can't scan, can't read from a memory card.
Summary: well, after much research i selected this printer/combo and it was great, for the first month... printed good to great pics depending on paper selection and then i let it rest for a month and crank it back up to make a copy and it craps out and gives me a 6500 error message!
Summary: Even though it comes up in the search on Amazon for AirPrint....this one is NOT. Read the fine print. This printer has "mobile print" which you have to download an app that will only print photos from your iPad or iPhone.
Summary: The MX 882 has many good qualities, but in my opinion efficient ink consumption is not one of them. In addition the cartridges do not hold much ink and are not cheap. Looking at a Consumers' Report (too late) their printers are among the highest cost for ink consumption.
Summary: Bruce Morris review above is exactly right about the shortcomings of duplex printing on the MX882. If you turn on duplexing (even manual duplexing) you can't get high quality color printing--it always turns out lighter no matter how high you set the quality.
Summary: Ordered for my mom and it was a nightmare. She had to send the original back as her first one was DOA. The second one was very temperamental and Cannon refused to take it back since they replaced her brand new one with a refurbished model. This is outrageous!
Summary: This is a great printer - except for the duplex printing. Software installs easily, though it takes a while. Print quality is great, as is the scanner. Scanning software is fair, has lots of options, but the auto scan function, which usually produces the best results, won't let you adjust the scan...
