Summary: Apart from being a monster and taking too much space in my office, I do like this printer.... when it works. Unfortunately, the software is poorly designed that I struggle most of the time using it wirelessly, especially the scanner. I have just scanned one document, flipped the other side, hit scan.... searching.... I can't find the scanner. I find scanning using a $.99 iPad app a lot convenient than this.
Hmmm, stay away. Better deals. Better All in one office printers.

Summary: I've had this printer for almost two years. All I can say is....disappointment. Ink flies out the door. I purchased mine for much less than what's offered here, and its at the duplex copy/scan all-in-one wireless Laser price...so just buy laser. When a cartridge runs out, all functions of this unit cease. That means, no scanning. Even if its just cyan, you can't print black and white, copy, fax, etc. Ink runs out very quickly.
Summary: I have had this 860 for a couple of years and have had enough with the constant purchase of ink. I haven't used a ream of paper - not even half since Christmas and I'm back to store for more ink. I print in grey scale most of the time thinking I would save the color ink. Nope - the 860 uses the color in anyway. So, I'm done with the Canon 860. Also, be careful - if you run the ink dry you could damage the print head. That's another $70.00.
Summary: I got almost 2 years out of this until the "U052" error popped up and the printer refused to work any longer. This apparently means that the print head has shorted out and it is time to get a new printer (a new head is about $70 and will supposedly short out again, according to other owners). I really find this kind of failure unacceptable - it seems all of these printers are disposable.
Summary: Only a year and half old Canon MX860 and print outs were smeared and had strikeout looking grid lines. I performed deep clean, manually aligned and nozzle clean but the print out were smeared and had grid here and there - like a strike out on text. Frustrating! This not a good printer.
Summary: I found this printer to be VERY SLOW on start-up. It clicks and clacks for too long before it finally gets around to printing. BUT my main complaint is the amount of ink the thing drinks. It is a true inkaholic. I was suprised to find that after printing 95% B & W that ALL the ink was used up. Not just black, making the per copy cost outragious.
Summary: This all-in-one only works if you have all 4 cartridges full of ink. It doesn't matter if you just want a b&w copy, or if you just want to fax, or scan. If one of the cartridges doesn't have ink, IT WON'T WORK!!!!! Why does it need ink to scan????? or to fax?????? I would appreciate someone from Canon to explain this. It doesn't make sense. Don't get this all-in-one.
Summary: It's perfect when it works.... When it doesn't... it prints only red.. then next day, only black.. then next day only green. The printhead doesn't stay permanently okay and I think i have to buy a new one. $60. I would rather that someone else buy it and replace it while I buy another printer with that money. Thanks for reading.
Summary: O stars. This is the WORST printer I have ever owned and I've owned a lot.. If one of the 6 ink wells gets low, it will not even fax or scan.. It is a complete ripoff. The ink is expensive and it runs out of COLOR ink even if you are only printing B&W.. They figured out a way to use as much ink from the colors so that one will get low and shut down the whole device.. I will not ever buy a canon printer again.. This one is going to the dump.. Expensive lesson..
