"Beware: Canon has no spare parts to repair the MX 860."

Levyana, CNET
7 January 2014
  • Pros: Nothing that stands out.
  • Cons: Used it for 4 years. Suddenly it stopped with error message B200 and instruction to call the company. Tech support said Canon has no spare parts for this unit and can not be repaired.

Big Disapointment

hrtisme1932, Ebay
25 November 2011
  • Summary: I found this printer to be VERY SLOW on start-up. It clicks and clacks for too long before it finally gets around to printing. BUT my main complaint is the amount of ink the thing drinks. It is a true inkaholic. I was suprised to find that after printing 95% B & W that ALL the ink was used up. Not just black, making the per copy cost outragious.

"Doesn't Last"

ashlaurah, CNET
14 January 2011
  • Pros: When it was new, it worked great (though sometimes slowly) as a wireless printer. Photos were quite good. Scanner function is logical.
  • Cons: Didn't last a year.

Canon Pixma MX860 Wireless All-In-One Printer

Sam Amulyoto, REVIEW STREAM

  • Excerpt: My line of work demands that I use printers a lot, and I have gone through quite a number of them over the past few years. I have used many different kinds of printers, but so far the ones I like the most are the Canon printers. I have used them over and over again, and with every generation that they produce, I find that the printers are somehow faster, cheaper and generally better.

  • Pros: Overall easy to use
  • Cons: No fax driver for Mac- means you have to print out all your faxes and send manually. Unenvironmental. Duplex printing gets stuck.....

"Ink Consumption will empty your retirement saving!!"

adamsusa, CNET
8 March 2010
  • Pros: Like my prior Canon AIO, this unit is feature rich. It's a great multi-purpose unit for a SOHO. And yes, as others have said, the setup can be improved but the wireless access works great.
  • Cons: One (very big) complaint - it GUZZLES ink!! 4 sets of ink in less than 1 ream (500 pages) of paper. 90% printing is text with color, 4% mid-quality graphics and 1% photos. Tech Support says duplex uses more, but I've disabled this - see no change!

"Would be 5-star if setup wasn't so heinous"

Intersection, CNET
1 February 2010
  • Pros: Great quality prints, fax and scanner and copy machine; low cost wireless all-in-one
  • Cons: Near impossible installation; Wireless scanning still doesn't work; wireless just stopped working after 2 month, no idea how to fix or troubleshoot it. Color printing is crazy slow.
