Conclusion: once i finally got the software set up, it has been pretty smooth printing. like others have said it is not a plug n play printer. i had forgotten about print spooling n needed a techy friend to help me with a couple directions.
Summary: I didn't need the wireless capability, which is good because for the life of me I couldn't get it set up (confusing and difficult, which is actually saying something for me, as things like this are normally easy). Other than that small thing, I love the flexibility it brings (corded). Moving things from sheet to PDF, copying, printing are all things it does well. I especially appreciate the scanning capability.
Summary: Comparable printers are usually much more expensive. Wireless and setup were easy, scanning has very good resolution, and it's just an easy printer to work with. The only issue I have with it is that the ink cartridges are not refillable, even at my local professional ink refilling store, so I spend more in ink than with my old printer. The nice thing is when it says the ink is almost out, I can still get about 8 to 10 good pages from it- thank goodness for the reserve in...
Summary: I bought it and it came in on time. The printer is a great addition, especially if you're a college student. It's at a good price and everything. I only complain about the ink. I feel like it runs out pretty quick, but then it might be because I have so many handouts to print for class readings.
Conclusion: It's probably the best I've used so far. My only complaint is I wish the display would light up, have to keep a flashlight handy. And I love the fact that you can buy about 4 different size cartridges for it. Of course I didn't hook it up myself, had my techy friend do while he was in town. Otherwise no problems.
Pros: reliable, durable, High Quality Output, fast print speed
Conclusion: Used this machine for two weeks in a small construction office that doesn't do much printing. The black ink is already gone, and the color (which we've hardly used at all) is almost all gone. Never could find a setting for a lighter printout. Sure would like a printed user's manual.
Pros: reliable, durable, High Quality Output, easy to use
Cons: Large Footprint, Difficult Setup, uses way too much ink
Summary: I've been using this printer for almost a year not and have found quality to be really nice and it's easy to use. My only complaint is that unlike many other Canon models, I've not been able to find less expensive "generic" replacement ink cartridges so you'll spend almost as much on replacement cartridges as you did on the printer.
Summary: I guess many of the previous reviews mentioned heavily on the time it takes to setup this machine. I received mine several weeks ago and just found some time to work on it today. Since my setup was pretty easy i'll show you my entire steps. 1. Plug in and turn on. 10 secs?? 2. Open tray and put in the cartridges. another 10-15secs?? 3. Setup wireless, now this is the tricky part for most people.
