Summary: I ordered refilled cartridges from 123 Ink. I bought from them in the past and had no trouble using refilled cartridges with my Pixma MX300. Their services are excellent. This time the cartridges do not fit the printer. I have tried twice and a friend also tried, with no success. The cartridges are NCRCL41 C.M.Y. for colour and NC-RPG40 BK for black. This printer version was followed I believe by one with a moveable tray for the cartridges to fit into.
Great Value, Easy to Use, Goes through ALOT of Ink
9 September 2012
Excerpt: My old All-In-One printer was starting to wear down so I went shopping for a replacement. I needed one immediately and the Canon MX300 series all-in-one was a great value. The replacement ink cartridges seemed inexpensive (and I print quite a few documents on a daily basis) so I decided to give this printer a try! It was extremely easy to set up, the fax and scanner functions are easy to use and it is compact enough to easily fit in my home office area.
Excerpt: It was great for a few months but then it stopped feeding paper. I changed the paper types and did everything I could think of but it wouldn't work. I found online that I wasn't alone with this problem. I contacted Canon and they were great about it. I gave the serial number to them and they offered a warranty exchange. They sent me a new one and I just had to drop the old one off at UPS with prepaid shipping.
Summary: I've used several different types of multi-function printers over the years. And without a doubt, this is easily the least intuitive one I've ever encountered. I purchased it mostly for the faxing and scanning capabilities -- I already had a basic printer -- but those parts of the operation are unnecessarily confusing. I've spent a few hours figuring out the most basic functions ... when in retrospect, I should have just gotten a basic scanner/fax machine.
Summary: Printer hooked up easily with my MacBook Pro. Also, works perfectly with my airport which was important. Quality leaves a lot to be desired, but for the price of shipping vs. what we paid for the printer, it wouldn't be economical to return it. The fax works fine although we haven't figured out how to have it NOT answer the phone short of unplugging the phone line. All-in-all a good printer for the low price.
Summary: I've owned the MX300 for about two months now. If you're sure about your priorities, this MFP could be fine for you -- it is for me. I mainly print text documents of 5 pages or less for my own use -- I don't need the best text quality. I also wanted the ability to fax, but I don't need to fax more than a page or two every week. I receive a few pages a week as well. Overall, the MX300 was easy to set up.
