Summary: I still have this printer. It does exactly what I bought it fot. That was to scan 35mm slides. I am very happy with its printing ability. As you can see I have had it longer than most people keep their printers.
Summary: After working for a year correctly, this printer went bonkers. This printer will not render photos with accurate colors, they all have a green tint. Even when you try to print in Black & White, it prints in black and pink. I tried looking into all troubleshooting, but to no avail. Will have to buy a new printer.
Summary: The reason I am writing this review two years after buying this printer is that I recently started doing film photography as a hobby and discovered the awesome film scanning capabilities of this gem. I completely forgot that the MP960 could scan film so after getting a couple of rolls scanned to the tune of $25.00 (yikes) I was really pleased to see how the MP960 scans compared to the lab scans!
Summary: I've had this printer for 3 years and have had no problems with it. It still never has jammed. I never get annoying lines or smudges on the prints. They come out simply beautiful. For me, this has been the perfect ZERO maintenance printer. I would recommend it. Only drawback is that it is HUGE. Takes up a big footprint on the desk---but well worth the money. 11-2011 Upgraded my review to 5 stars...at 5 years, I have NEVER had a paper-jamb in this printer!
Summary: This is my second MP960. The feed mechanism gave out on the first one after 13 months of home use. I purchased a second 960 because it copies 8 35MM slides at a time. It was inoperative right out of the box. As soon as it was powered up I got an error message and could not proceed. Called Canon's trouble line but wound up taking it to an authorized repair dealer 2 hours away from home. Not a happy camper but the printer is worth the effort.
Summary: I have had no problems with this printer, and it makes beautiful prints and scans. I would suggest that you avoid "gray market" ink cartridges. I had purchased some low cost ink on E-Bay that were supposed to be Canon cartridges, but were most likely forgeries. Stick with reputable suppliers of original Canon ink and you should find that the printer works well.
Summary: I really enjoyed this all-in-one machine. The print quality was exellent. The scanning function was average speed. This is 'light duty' machine for home or small office. A noticeable drawback was the small ink cartridges. They run really fast. But then---the printer broke. I had gone through 15 or so black cartridges and then it flat broke.(The scanner worked fine.) The cartridge carriage stuck and made a loud grinding noise.
