Summary: Ran 5 years until it developed a problem. That's not bad for a printer/all-in-one. I like it so well I'm watching eBay to buy the exact same model as a replacement. Canon will sell you a replacement at a "customer loyalty discount," but it would be a newer model. You have to start with their tech support. An added feature--with a minor hack and a plastic try you buy on eBay, it will print on printable CD's and DVD's. Excellent quality.
Summary: I just bought of these today. Had been in original box for the past 6 years. I'm using Windows 2000 and can't upgrade due to special software requirements, so I could not find any Win2000 compatible printers in the stores any longer, except Lexmark, which really should not be still in business, considering the poor quality of their so-called printers. Did you know where the name Lexmark came from?
Summary: I got this exact printer for parts for a printer I already had exactly like it. The main reason I use it is for photos and making calendars. The print quality is phenomenal for both assuming that you use the correct type of paper. Being able to feed single sheets from the back is also really important for the thicker paper. It is fast too for printing photos, only a couple of minutes. For just printing text the sheets just fly out.
Do your research & compare the pros & cons before buying. Better may exist.

Summary: Designed to cost you money. Chipped ink cartridges. Guzzles ink. Many users complain in forums they have gotten errors where the printer ceases to respond and to which no reasonable solution exists. I had this happen to me with one. I have had the cyan ink cartridge bleed and contaminate the yellow in the print head. Resulting prints were barely off in color due to this.
Summary: This printer, though it has great quality prints, guzzles ink. We have been more frustrated at this printer than with any other printer we've ever owned (even dot matrix's!). When one ink cartridge runs empty, the printer essentially shuts down preventing you from evening using the scanner or the fax!
Summary: Bought my first Canon MP830 when it was introduced a few years back. It has worked so perfectly since new and does everything so well (dbl. sided, scan, copy, fax) that any newer models don't appeal to me. Now that they don't make this model any longer (I'm sure newer models are just as good, if not better) and I already have a large supply of ink, I bought a slightly used one on eBay as a back up.
Summary: After three HP printers that didn't hold up very well, I tried a Canon this time around. It was a good decision. This machine never fails me, and is very good at everything it does. The ink is more costly than for some other inkjets, but I use a B&W laser printer for things that I need in high quantity.
Summary: love lots of things exp makes good copies of photos and one can place small papers and print off of scrap papers and the printer is able to grip it and print it very carefully , but it fails within two to three years. this is not cool once it fails you are up the creek no one can help you unless you are willing to fork out another 300 to 500 for a new. I still love it over all but i can do my necessary printing on another cheaper printer.
