Summary: Have owned this model for 4 years; it's basically kick-ass, in terms of print quality, ease of use, and features (scans 35MM negatives, which was a big selling point for me). HOWEVER, the ink does not last very long (colored ink esp.); I have found that if u turn the printer off between uses, the ink does tend to last a lil' bit longer (evaporation from the internal heat of the printer? my best guess).
Summary: I purchased this PIXMA primarily for scanning documents for storage on my Mac and copying old slides I took back in the day. It performs these functions well. The software lets you scan into pdf files and stores them according to date of scan for filing purposes. It follows the typical Mac style of user interface to make it easy enough. Print quality is decent, but I primarily use a networked laser printer for this. Would buy again.
Excellent Printer; VERY ANNOYING Messages re: Ink Cartridges
Michael E. Karam, Amazon
29 September 2006
Summary: I have no complaints about the output I receive from this new all-purpose Canon Printer. What I find VERY ANNOYING, however, are the frequent error messages about the various ink cartridges, all of which are Canon brand. Without warning, I will receive error messages, for example, that the printer detects more than one "magenta" cartridge, when, in fact, there is only one magenta cartridge.
Summary: I would give it five stars but I haven't had it long enough, (one day) and want to leave room for a future ratings/updates. My last printer was an EPSON, and was a most frustrating experience, because of inks $$$$ and clogged printing head. I am glad I spent the money for the Canon, and if my first day is any hint of what the future holds for this "all in one" printer, it will be a Five Star.
Summary: This is my first time having a printer that does borderless photos. They come out incredible. I bought a pack of 4x6 sheets, and the prints blow me away. Its fast and quiet too. However, like the last reviewer said, no one makes refills or even replacement cartridges for this printer (yet). Something about Canon having a patent on the cartridge style - see this link: [...] So, it gets 4 starts instead of 5.
Summary: pros -excellant speed in print and copy -scanning speed of negatives is a little slow, but with excellant results. -sofware package is easy to use for casual user -documents can be saved as pdf files cons -black cover shows dust and scratches -doesn't come with usb cable
Excerpt: We had an epson photo printer before this - it was an r300. However, we found that it was so slow at printing and that the ink levels ran out really quickly. We decided to change our printer, because the epson was too costly. We decided to go with Canon because they make some of the best cameras, so we thought that their printers would also be good. This was true.
Pros: CD printing, great quality, fast, copying feature
Excerpt: One of the best Printers I have ever used, I purchased this printer after my Epson Photo Stylus RX425 started to get sick and eventually only copy prints, and after my Lexmark photo printer inks were putting a hole in my pocket. This PIXMA MP800 Photo All-In-One delivers spectacular Print performance and is better then anything I have ever seen.
Pros: Everything you need except fax
Cons: no Fax, ink is quite pricey, its big and heavy
Alles was vom Gerät gesagt wird stimmt. Es ist super. 2. 4 Sterne nur weil der Canon Support sehr zu wünschen übrig lässt. Diese Leute sollten sich mal bei Amazon einiges über Kundennähe abgucken.
