MY FIRST AND LAST CANON PRINTER (by an old PC tech)
29 July 2008
Summary: CONS: 1. Printer is designed to destroy itself: a. Leave ink cartridge lever up for 10 minutes and it smashes into the side, stripping the gears (Canon knows about this but will not fix the firmware) b. Print head is designed to burn out after 1 year by deliberate micro power surges which gradually burn out electrical traces (HP cartridges do this too and most other printer companies probably employ this dirty trick.) 2. No firmware updates!
Canon Pixma MP780: Canon-customer-service sucks & is absolutely useless - since ...
14 January 2011
Summary: I had bought this All-in-one-printer in 2005, paid £180 for it. The scanner was not working properly right out of the box (out-of-focus scans & wrong colours) - obviously, this printer was not properly tested before leaving Canon's printer-factory. After complaining, they send a technician to repair it, who fixed the out-of-focus-problem, but over-looked the false-colour-problem.
