This printer worked well for a student's needs

  • Excerpt: I got this printer as a gift for when I went to college.  I appreciate the fact that it also scans and copies, which came in useful several times during college when I wanted to borrow notes and do it quick. The printer worked well for a couple years for me, and is pretty quick.  It doesn't take a long time to warm up or anything, which is good.  It is also very sturdy and hasn't broken even though I have moved several times.

Pixma MP450 good printer

LeahTorres, Viewpoints

  • Excerpt: This printer works great, except that the ink is really expensive. Knock off ink doesn't seem to provide the same quality and each cartrige is almost $30. Fortunately all the color is in one cartrige. I love that it does everything in one machine.

Excellent, reliable printer for the money

Bonzai, Amazon
13 March 2011
  • Summary: We previously owned this identical printer/scanner/copier, but after a years of rugged home business use, (literally hundreds of printings and photo prints daily), it was running a little tired and we decided to get another printer to get us through tax season. We hurriedly ordered an identical "used" printer thru Amazon (Digimax) It is an excellent printer for the money--the photo quality is not as sharp as the high-end printers, but still very good.

"Solid dependable mid-range printer for home office"

saurabh_bagchi, CNET
8 November 2008
  • Pros: In 2 years of use in my home office, I have been satisfied with its solid unfussy performance. The print quality is very acceptable for all but highly refined jobs. The printer is able to handle most jobs without moaning about paper jams.
  • Cons: The speed is not the highest, but that does not bother me much for my home office work.

Grayish

R. van Gaal, Amazon
27 March 2007
  • Summary: As much as I like the MP450, I use it for photo printing mostly, and must say I'm still looking for a printer that represents black better. Comparing photos from an actual lab to the MP450's output, the print doesn't use the black cartridge when printing color, so black is generated by mixing all available colors, resulting in a grayish tone instead of black. Other than that, it's a fine printer.

  • Summary: I've just had the printer a short time, but it meets all the criteria I needed. I had a few problems at first with the settings for "copy" but, when I finally figured it out, it's wonderful.

Expensive ink.....

PJD "smart shopper 30144", Amazon
29 December 2006
  • Summary: I got this printer to replace an Epson that just took too dern long to warm up and print a page. It was taking forever....This is not much better. Still a lot of ink charging and jyrating before I get a page. The color seems to be good but not that much more remarkable than the old slow Epson. No off market ink cartridges for this model so far which makes it $$$$ to operate. Next printer I'll check the ink situation before buying.
