Excerpt: I got this printer as a gift for when I went to college. I appreciate the fact that it also scans and copies, which came in useful several times during college when I wanted to borrow notes and do it quick. The printer worked well for a couple years for me, and is pretty quick. It doesn't take a long time to warm up or anything, which is good. It is also very sturdy and hasn't broken even though I have moved several times. Whenever I have questions about it the Canon...
Excerpt: This printer works great, except that the ink is really expensive. Knock off ink doesn't seem to provide the same quality and each cartrige is almost $30. Fortunately all the color is in one cartrige. I love that it does everything in one machine.
Summary: We previously owned this identical printer/scanner/copier, but after a years of rugged home business use, (literally hundreds of printings and photo prints daily), it was running a little tired and we decided to get another printer to get us through tax season. We hurriedly ordered an identical "used" printer thru Amazon (Digimax) It is an excellent printer for the money--the photo quality is not as sharp as the high-end printers, but still very good.
Summary: As much as I like the MP450, I use it for photo printing mostly, and must say I'm still looking for a printer that represents black better. Comparing photos from an actual lab to the MP450's output, the print doesn't use the black cartridge when printing color, so black is generated by mixing all available colors, resulting in a grayish tone instead of black. Other than that, it's a fine printer.
Summary: I got this printer to replace an Epson that just took too dern long to warm up and print a page. It was taking forever....This is not much better. Still a lot of ink charging and jyrating before I get a page. The color seems to be good but not that much more remarkable than the old slow Epson. No off market ink cartridges for this model so far which makes it $$$$ to operate. Next printer I'll check the ink situation before buying.
Summary: This all-in-one printer has revolutionized my home office. For only $100, I have high quality printed documents, copies, scans and photos at home that exceed the capabilities of many small businesses. Pros: PRINT quality is excellent and fast. Black text works well, and several people have commented on the high quality of the color photos printed on just plain white paper. SCAN quality is quite good, and easy to use.
Summary: I'm a college student who prints mostly text. Nevertheless, after seeing the convenience of having an All-in-One, I'd recommend investing a little more in a printer with more functions. I purchased this printer after my Epson C84 clogged. After looking at some inkjets, I decided to order this Canon based on price and reliability. 1. This printer is large. The Canon line does not have the compact box design of HP All-in-Ones (1400 and 1500 Series).
