Run Don't Walk Away From This Printer

Teresa Hamdan, Amazon
8 April 2014
  • Summary: If zero stars were available, then that is how I would rate this printer. How did this printer ever come to market? The printing is so blurry I can't use it. I have done the troubleshooting. It is not at all user friendly. Make sure you bring your flashlight because there is no backlight on the user screen. I have been using HP printers for years but then had a bad experience.

A step backward

Weare Public Lib, Amazon
24 March 2014
  • Summary: I have bought 3 Canon printers in the Pixma series. The two older ones are still in use in this building. The only reason I had to replace the last one was that the ink carriage band became dislodged. Compared with the other Canon products, the MX 450 is a step backward. Not quite what my daughter calls :Fails on first use" but in less than a month of light use, I'm already experiencing paper jams and even with a brand new full ink cartridge, the print streaks.

  • Summary: Won't stay online. Runs out of ink often. Difficult to put on wireless network. My advice is to buy something else.

Stay away.

Mel BYARS, Amazon
2 December 2013
  • Summary: Do not buy this printer. The installation technology is too complicated and is difficult to make it work--if, indeed, you can make it work at all.

Horrible, dont waste your money

sendittokeith, Amazon
6 August 2013
  • Summary: I got this printer for a great price on sale - but not worth it. If you just want standard printouts then you are fine, if you need any type of quality - forget it! It prints worse than my old dot matrix printer 20 years ago :-( I would not recommend this product.

Best printer on the market I have ever owned

dakota, Amazon
10 June 2013
  • Summary: I have owned this printer since 2005,it's still working great. And they still sell the ink, I have never had it in the shop, I think I paid $99 on sale. The pictures are great. oh and I just gratuated from college after 7 years of use and copied thousands of copies from the ebooks. The scan works really super as well. I wouldnt have got my degree without it. I would recommend this to everyone. Easy set up.

Excellent, reliable printer for the money

Bonzai, Amazon
13 March 2011
  • Summary: We previously owned this identical printer/scanner/copier, but after a years of rugged home business use, (literally hundreds of printings and photo prints daily), it was running a little tired and we decided to get another printer to get us through tax season. We hurriedly ordered an identical "used" printer thru Amazon (Digimax) It is an excellent printer for the money--the photo quality is not as sharp as the high-end printers, but still very good.

For the price, not bad

Gerald, Amazon
23 January 2010
  • Summary: The MP450 works well for the price and occasional use. It goes through ink fairly quickly so I use it mostly for copying. The black and white copies come out nice but for scanning it's just average. It's easy to use.

Disappointed Overall

RPR, Amazon
25 November 2009
  • Summary: I purchased the Canon Pixma 450 two years ago in conjunction with a new computer. It has been used in primarily in light duty volume applications with a few longer runs. To say I'm disappointed with it is being polite. This machine is S L O W and noisy. When copying from an original it grunts, groans, wheezes, whines, and then finally gets around to printing. Printing from the computer is a bit faster, but it still goes through the same gyrations.
