Bad Printer..Had to return for full refund..Tech Support no help

Summary: I bought the printer due to all the positive remarks but I guess I was the unlucky one. First time I Turned on the printer and troubleshooting is already required. I called tech support and he could not help. He said I have a "faulty printer, thanks for calling, bye". Oh well, on to the next printer.
Excerpt: The mp170 is an "all in one printer", boasting a scanner, photocopy, fax, printer etc. All this in one package. It sounds like a winner! Sadly, it doesn't do any of these things as good as a proper scanner/ proper printer etc. Here is the review: Ok, starting with printing, the printer can do colour, and black and white, and replacing the ink is pretty easy. However, the paper is fed in via a slot (and can be expanded to size A3 or whatever you want).
Excerpt: I bought the product from a local dealer in Fiji (Courts Homecenters) already for one year but I found a warranty card for three years inside the package but when I took it to the dealer for repair they said it is not on a warranty.The brand is Canon Pixma MP170.Can you please explain why?But on the other end the product is quite good.
