  • Summary: The Canon Pixma MP160's everyday print jobs came out crisp, while scans are above-average but with limited resolution. The lack of a memory card slot could be an important omission.
  • Pros: Price, easy to print from the MP Navigator
  • Cons: Doesn't have a colour-LCD or memory card slot, some streaking when copying in mono

  • Summary: At only £49, we were delighted to find that the Canon Pixma MP160's photo print quality was above average - a match for the more expensive MP180, if 20 seconds slower.

Canon PIXMA MP160

29 November 2006
  • Excerpt: Canon's PIXMA MP160 is the most affordable MFP in this test, costing £17 less than HP's Photosmart C3180. It's a basic device that prints with four inks. Its simple LED control panel limits direct copying to nine copies per batch and the only zoom option is fit-to-page. As with most of the MFPs here, you need to lift the scan bed to fit the cartridges. It's held open by a simple plastic support that can be tricky to collapse again.
