Not the best

LB, Canon
  • Conclusion: All features of this product were working good and then one day when I tried to scan a photo it would not scan to my computer. I have reinstalled the software, updated the driver, reinstalled the software again but the scanner still does not work. Everything else works fine. However, I use the scanner frequently and am very unhappy with this Canon.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
  • Cons: High Ink Consumption

Works great-until it doesn't.

ac4te, Ebay
4 July 2014
  • Summary: I had one of these. Easy to set up. Software works great and isn't buggy. Print quality is great. I loved the way it operated. That is until the print head went out. Canons are great printers-but this one died about a week(yes, a week) after the warranty expired. Just go buy another model-you can't afford to fix a bad print head for less than the cost of a new printer. I bought an MG5522.

Set to self-destruct after one year

topsock, Canon
23 May 2014
  • Conclusion: I have had this printer for just over a year and it just stopped working. Solid orange warning light. Power issue. It was easy to set up and the wireless worked throughout the house but the build quality is less than what I expected from Canon. So how much are you willing to pay for a one year of use printer?

Good while it lasts

dvanderson, Canon
22 April 2014
  • Conclusion: We loved how easy it was to set up for multiple printers (one on USB and the others wireless). We use this to print from Windows, Mac, Linux, and iOS devices. The copy function is great and it is hard to tell the copy from the original. However, after a little more than a year, the printer just stopped working with a "print head" error. In researching this, it is common and there is no way to fix it--just built-in obsolescence.
  • Pros: fast print speed, easy to use, nice features

Don't use as network printer.

Mike B, Canon
20 January 2014
  • Conclusion: So far as I can tell, this printer has wifi connectivity simply as a novelty. If you expect to print using anything but a USB cable, don't buy. It mysteriously falls off the network every few days leaving you to twiddle the silly dial to once again, re-enter your passphrase. Then turn everything on and off a few times and re-install all the drivers in your computers for good measure. Then it may start working for another 2 or 3 days. As a printer, it's not bad.
  • Pros: Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed
  • Cons: Difficult Setup, unreliable, horrible network performance

Does not stay connected to wireless router

Anonymous, Canon
7 January 2014
  • Conclusion: I normally love Canon products, but this is the worst printer ever. It does not stay connected to the wireless connection for longer than one print job. I have yet found a way to easily solve the problem and resort to having to download the driver over and over again. Do not buy this model.

Re-evaluating Canon as a printer

davefisk1, Ebay
6 December 2013
  • Summary: I've had to replace my brand new MG5320 .... the printer heads tend to go out early on these models.... can not be repaired...must buy a new one.....AND NOW THEY ARE MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE. Re-evaluating Canon as a printer.

Ink eater

Woody, Canon
5 December 2013
  • Conclusion: The printer functions as expected but it has small ink vials and go's through ink VERY fast. If you don't own the ink factory, look for another printer.

Broke Down

Broke Down, Canon
27 November 2013
  • Conclusion: I was SOOOO pleased at first. It did photos in B plus or better quality - not bad for a home printer. It did printable CD's very nicely. And it broke down after a few months. This seems to be a common problem. The ink carriage just WON'T MOVE, and no amount of turning off power supply, etc., turning upside down, gentle shaking, looking for scraps of paper inside (there aren't any) can undo the jammed mechanism. Apparently this happens often with this printer. Often.
  • Cons: High Ink Consumption, unreliable, Flimsy Construction

  • Conclusion: Just does not work well with Win 8 wireless. Drivers? Which one? This should be an ez relationship between Win and Canon.
