Good for 2yrs- then hazardous waste.

Joel Aycock, Amazon
7 December 2014
  • Summary: Purchased at Office Max- worked great for 2yrs. Loved it (except for the slow startup and shutdown "Wait Awhile Momentarily" messages). Now getting "U052 Printhead Is Incorrect" error (google it)- looks like there is no fix, and this completely disables all functions- you can't even use the scanner...

Great while it lasted...

A. Gilbert, Amazon
1 October 2014
  • Summary: I really liked this printer when I got it. I had it for 18 months and it died this week I called Canon and they said that it needs a new part that will cost $80-$100. I do not do a significant amount of printing and this should not have a happened so soon.

ink hog

Steven M., Newegg
21 August 2012
  • Summary: called canon tec service and they said to set printer to gray print only will help save ink but that is not a big help because it clean the heads so often that it sucks up color ink and the price of there ink is way expensive I will keep it to print on disks and use my old kodak for my main...
  • Pros: prints on disk with disk tray
  • Cons: this thing uses more ink than any printer I have owed, the first time you print every day it takes so long to start printing I have walked up stair at my home and filled my coffie cup came back down stairs and it still has not started printing - leaving it on all the time like some have said real...

Ink sucking behavior makes for a poor overall value

Jeff W., Newegg
12 July 2012
  • Summary: This is a trojan horse into the ink well. Proceed with caution.
  • Pros: Nice print quality, sets up easily, wireless works without a hitch.
  • Cons: Sucks ink. Without even printing that much. Very costly behavior and no way to adjust. Thanks Canon but despite the print quality I'll go another way next time. And next time is soon, as I refuse to buy another set of ink.

Won't let you print ANYTHING without ALL inks!!!

Crista S. Forest, Amazon
11 May 2012
  • Summary: Edit: I originally gave this printer 4 stars because the print quality is excellent. But I have dropped it to 2 stars now that I have encountered what others have complained about. Not just the slow warm-up. Not just using up ink quickly. That has always been my experience with colored printers.

Ink guzzler

Tom B., Newegg
19 April 2012
  • Summary: Automatic cleaning the head constantly uses up the ink. This must be deliberate to sell more ink since my old Canon IP5000 printer could go weeks without printing and print the first page flawlessly. If there is a way to alter this behavior, I can't find it. I doubt I will buy another Canon printer.
  • Pros: Pictures look pretty good, duplex printing is nice, scanner works OK.
  • Cons: I come home from work and typically print a couple of pages. The printer cleans the heads for 55 seconds before printing the first page. It does this every single day. Leaving the printer powered on doesn't help. Uses ink really fast. The ink is expensive. Also didn't work out of the box and need...

Stay Away if You Have a Mac

J. North, Amazon
30 November 2011
  • Summary: The accompanying software is not completely Mac compatible. Even after downloading latest software (which is confusing...each element appears to be a separate download) MoviePrint doesn't work; after a few moments of spinning beach ball you get some pop-up saying "Application that accompany Canon...

It almost made two years before the wireless died.

J. C. Danko, Amazon
22 November 2011
  • Summary: My faithful, but ancient, HP PSC1201xi is becoming harder to live with as applications and OS's advance. I saw the Canon PIXMA MG5320 in the Amazon Daily Deal and now I have it. The installation and setup was a snap if a little long.
